1-0 home defeat in first leg, followed by much huffing and puffing in the away leg and a late missed penalty leading to a 30 page thread on the merits of letting your leading goalscorer (and ace penalty taker) leave in January with no adequate replacement.

Nobody will be more upset than the Chairman, other than the ex-manager who will talk about impossible situations and hands tied behind backs. A clearout will be forthcoming, but only of the young, saleable talent and the new manager will have a definite remit to bring through more young talent to lead the club forward. This will prove to be smoke and mirrors and all predictions of this being the new start we need will be withdrawn by November when the next manager will be tasked with repairing the subsequent mid season mess.
The Chairman will be mortified that this latest appointment hasn't worked but will have absolute faith in the new man to bring forward the club . . . . . . . . . and so it goes on.
