It's embarrassing how ridiculously fickle people on here are.

Seriously? From coming out with all manner of bobbins about the club, the Board etc to suddenly believing what you're told.A player can be worse than a rapist a few days ago and now he's brilliant?

Jeez, seriously? I didn't think this place was that bad but.....**shakes head**

The manager has said, when prompted about re-investing the Murphy money, that we have to cut our cloth and made it sound like we aint spending anything. This would have had the place in uproar a few hours ago but we have since beaten a very poor Chesterfield side.

You are not wrong, this place has been in uproar about all sorts of ridiculously exaggerated bobbins over the last week and it's disappointing that we are not throwing shoes around because the manager wouldn't tell us exactly how much money he can spend.

Despite beating a team who were dreadful, we're great
Adkins knew what he had doing by waiting 4 weeks to bring a CB in
Adkins is brilliant for playing people in their correct position (despite not doing so for the last two games, and people slagging off today's left-back)
Collins is a really top quality league 1 player

seriously? Lower league club with lower league fans with knuckles badly damaged by the floor.

Oh yes I would. You've not ready my other posts. I thought I was Mr Popular as well

When asked if anything was imminent he said something along the lines of "You never know, we're in the market for players and always looking to strengthen". That to me doesn't mean anything other than we're aiming for players to be signed this window. If he hadn't have said that then i'd be with you but on this occasion he got the balance just right between assuring fans we're in the market and preventing price rises of players.

On the basis of today's match, it being the first I have been to this season (but since some made their minds up ten minutes into the first match, that should not be a problem).

Chesterfield were not awful, just never looked like scoring, maybe their problem, maybe our strength.
Looks like he's brought a decent CB in.
Looks like the team had great shape today.
Collins did all right, maybe responding to the new manager, maybe not.

Can't say any more as Mrs HB wants to put some more TCP on the HB knuckles.

What he actually said when he asked if he was going to re-invest the money was a politicians answer around cutting his cloth. The Board have already publicly announced that they will re-invest the full profit. Why would he state otherwise?

Because he's got more sense than the Board. I am not deluded into thinking that we definitely have the money to spend on players, but at the same time, I am not cynical enough to discount the word of the Board on the basis that the manager gives a bland and non-committal answer to RS. I wait for the monsters to turn up (like last night with the sale of Murphy) rather than look under the bed to try and find them.

Is the full profit £1 after expenses?

Obviously aimed at one particular poster on here. Hope you are enjoying basking in the glow of being able to say that I told you so, just as much as I enjoyed being proved wrong yesterday by a couple of players and an excellent United performance

Some of us stayed out after the game and are just sobering up. Glad to see you enjoyed your evening though.

For the record I don't believe a word Jim ever says and never will

I think it's easier to say Jim is full of shit.

I can't really understand what people expect. Ok we sold Murphy and we think we got around £1.5 - £2m for him. Not a bad price but more importantly the player wanted to go, so be it. I think the 30 or so threads on that subject have covered everything. The manager isn't going to immediately say 'I've got £2m to spend and here's the list of players I'm after'. I believe it's a constant thing that the manager will be always looking at potential signings. He may not always get what he wants, obviously he has to be realistic and they also need to be available. I don't see why everyone doesn't think the club will spend any money after we spent £1.5m (ish) on Brayford and around £500k on Sharp. That's more than most clubs in this league are spending isn't it?

Maybe I'm blind to the way the club is being run, but I think realistically the board HAVE made money available for signings and I don't see any reason why they wouldn't again.

I think we also need to remember we must have one of the largest playing squads in the league too, so you can't just keep bringing in more without letting some go too.

I do hope, however, that the club manages to keep hold of Adams for a few years and that he doesn't let it all go to his head, sign for a low grade premier or championship club to then play in their reserves or get loaned out.

Before the transfer window closes we will have another CB and possibly a CM (maybe Morsey) and possibly a GK on board. We will move up the league and get promoted this season. Nowt fickle about that :)

"If the squad isn't stronger overall by the end of the Transfer Window then that's the time for anger."

Until lathered late at night obviously!

Fickle?

That is a good call - but reckon we have the best manager around to sort a players head round and keep the feet firmly on the ground.

Che Adams should be rightly buzzing today - lets see how he handles himself on Tuesday.

Did you see the smile on his face when 20k fans stood to applaud him off. Murphy leaving put the pressure on him and he stood up to it and more.

No I didn't see his smile - was too busy on my feet applauding vigorously - the lad deserved what he got.

We have to remember he is still 19, possibly still growing but his strength for a 19 year is more like someone of 25+.

He has a very bright future. THANK YOU MR COUGH.

After 20 odd signings he had to get a couple right! haha

well yes, but Clough has his own blueprint that differs from Adkins. Scoogs had a roll in a 5 man midfield, but in a 4 he is a concern. Mcnulty is another who might now be frozen out which is a shame.

At the end of the day we have to accept only 11 can play and for me I don't give a monkeys - just want out of the shit division.

If McNulty can learn from Sharp then I think he has a future. He needs to run the channels and bring others into play as well as being a goal scorer. If not send him to Pompey on loan and he will bag loads playing regularly and come back a better player
