Do you think the players downed tools regarding Slav or did they just not understand what he was trying do?

I certainly didn't get what Slav was trying to achieve week in week out, it was different every match.
So much better today and I actually feel slightly optimistic.

For whatever reason, a lot of players not been applying themselves for some time. Whatever the rocket that’s been fired, let it continue.

The patterns of play today were less complicated not saying that’s a bad thing and the players are well drilled in that way of playing Slav was trying to completely change the identity of the team

I think they understood what SJ wanted but we don't have the players to play how he wanted. Nor were we prepared to wait to get those players in.

Bristol City though may be one of the worst teams i've seen

Not sure what Nigel Pearson's game plan was. 0-0 draw? Even when we went ahead they were hardly putting us under pressure. They didn't seem in much of a hurry to move the ball.

I'd be quite fucked off with that if had travelled all the way up from Bristol.

He deserved sacking for not picking Bash for the first 14 games or so. How can you watch training every day and decide not to pick him on a Saturday? Criminal. He played Robinson in front of him for weeks because he is left footed, not on ability. No coincidence things have improved since he came back in

If we are to go back to a similar way of playing pre Slav I’m happy to have a high percentage of possession with Wilder we never really had much more than 50% even if we’d had a good winning match one thing Slav did was make us ‘have’ the ball even if it meant going backwards I’d see it as an improvement on a similar system.

I'm not sure the players did buy into what Slav was trying to do and some of his selections and substitutions were bizarre.

I watched his interviews for the first few months, but then stopped because it was just nonsensical.

Today was kept dead simple. Pass forwards quickly, plenty of movement and win back asap.

It was a breathe of fresh air.

It wasn't because BC we're crap either (even though they were) it was because we chased, harried and also played great football.

Well done Rhian!.

And a good interview from Hecky after the game.
I also stopped watching Slavs interviews a while ago

Were Bristol City bad or did we not let them get into the game? I'd agree they are not the best in this division but we were much improved today. Pearson's tactics seemed to be stay in the game and hope to nick something in the last 15mins typical pig coming to the lane eh?

Its not always about being the best manager or having the best CV.

Its about being the best fit, or being in the right place at the right time.

On paper SJ is streets about PH, but never really felt like it clicked at the lane.

Hecky has fairly underwhelming history in management, but this could be his 'right place right time' appointment.

Remains to be seen, but a good start under Hecky.

I keep saying that in this league, yet we’ve somehow conspired to lose a lot. The league is 75% below par.
if hecky can get these players playing to their potential a play off spot is easily within our grasp the 4 teams that are occupying the play off positions are nothing special fancy us for another win at cardiff next saturday

Bournemouth, Blackburn and Cov were all pretty dire against us, but did more than enough to finish us off (or draw). 3 games we could have & should have won.

Hecky - McCall - Lester. A "dream team"?
Time will tell.

Haven’t listened to what some of the players have said regarding Slav, i feel like they weren’t convinced or liked playing for Slav.
Billy Sharps interview after the game about training being poor says it all

Yeah and guess who we'll meet in the final.......

no im convinced they were not playing for slav not the first time a group of players have caused a sacking and wont be the last

From the first minute to the last, it was like night and day, from what’s gone before! We closed them down all over the pitch and won the ball back playing a quick aggressive pressing game. The whole momentum of our play, both with and without the ball was so much quicker than anything we’ve seen this season.
Bristol City weren’t particularly crap but rather they were made to look so by our increased tempo, just as many other teams will be in our remaining fixtures.
Heckingbottom is no mug, he’s playing to our strengths and in a style that the players are familiar with. I predict long term he’ll produce similar or maybe better results than CW, but with more guile, intellect and professional attitude and with less reliance on Peroni 🤣
