I was told slav was the man to take over that happened and I'm being told from the same person slav as at least till the end of the season, nothing to do with finances the board think he's the man and will be given 10 million in January to get 2 wingers and a CM

He does need backing and hopefully he gets it in January.

A couple of loans to patch up Wilder's squad wasn't enough and we all knew that when the summer window closed.

If my source is right he'll have 10 million and he's got a few targets I don't know who, also basham as said no chance to him going to boro he wants to stay with us,verrips possibly on loan to Holland

There is only so much a Manager can do.

If you had a peak Alex Ferguson managing Grimsby vs a peak Manchester United team managed by Alan Carr, odds are that Manchester United win 99% of those games.

People keep saying the players did get to 9th in the Premier League, however in that team we had:

Since then, we have recruited appallingly with players form and confidence utterly shot. Fans are on a clear route to toxicity (no blame there given some of the most depressing 24 months of football for us on record - inclusive of having European football taken away from us due to losing our momentum over lockdown) .

There is no easy answer to any of this, except a gradual recycling of players until we can get a spine of 6 or 7 players to start to rebuild the team around. I don't think we have any of that spine yet, except for maybe N'Diaye, Jebbison and an Egan (if he ever hits form again). The rest are either too old to build a side around, not good enough, or the fit just isn't right.
Completely agree with this.

There’s a massive rebuild job that needs doing, and not much of a spine.

I just hope we can keep hold of Ndiaye and Jebbison, whilst we’re shit there’s always going to be the temptation of going elsewhere, I hope we can build a team, possibly with these two at the heart of it.

Any manager that leaves Basham out for 15 matches doesn't know what it's all about.
Don't want him jumping up and down like that demented banshee at Spurs but a little passion wouldn't go amiss.

Dude, stop making things up.

Needs two more transfer windows... at least!
Being realistic, you're dead right, to squeeze any momentum out of this coming TW deals need to being brokered right now, of course we have little knowledge of this and the results will only be known if we hit the ground running early Jan, then all have to gell into the mix, fingers crossed we might have the momentum for a late push into the top 10, best scenario I can see UTB

might help if anybody was interested in any of our players to free funds up cant disagree with him wanting 2 wingers and a defensive midfielder to come in but i also think we need a big physical centre forward as well like jutkivich brereton - diaz or keifer moore type of striker especially if slav wants to continue with a front 3

Hes staying don't worry the guy loves united and he knows we love him
I'm unsure love comes into it, if a decent offer is tabled then he'll go, Slav needs his own type of players, that's the big problem. Also, Bash is getting to the stage of his career where one final rewarding contract (with promo bonus) would be tough to turn down.

Hes certainly not going to boro is what I meant as some on here are adamant wilder will get him

In.

The poor bloke has had a huge steaming turd dumped on him that he's got to try and turn into something presentable.

He knew what he was getting into but anyone thinking this team should be challenging around the play offs based on nothing but the fact that they were in the Premier League last season is living on another planet and obviously didn't see much of last season's utterly dismal showing. He needs a full pre-season and a summer to get some of his own, permanent signings in, not the make do and mend that we've got at the moment. Only then can we judge if Slav is the right man for the job. Pep, Klopp or anyone else wouldn't be able to do much better than the lazy, disinterested bunch we currently have.

Sacking him and replacing him with Heckingbottom would have sent us on a slippery slope back to away games at Port Vale, Fleetwood and Hillsborough.

In for me - the football he wants to play promises so much and as fans we'll love it IF he gets it right.

As a lot of our fans are saying - we need to get rid of some of the CW legacy players who can't adapt to the new style and bring in some that can.

I'd rather give SJ the chance to get it right.

Manager is not the issue for once. Everything else is wrong including squad, owner, investment, training facilities et al.

We‘ve had several forays into the Premier League but NEVER had the investment and ownership that’s needed to make a fist of it.
Always a Budget club, budget players, great fan base and a decent manager if he had funds and stability in the backing and not someone with a business/football empire model he can’t afford.

we nearly did it last time with £120m but it got spunked up wall on crap.

Interesting, as according to a certain publication called the Athletic, as on Sufc news now, The higher management considered dispensing with Slav after the Blackburn game, so they obviously don't have the same opinion, the manager is not at fault....

I would certainly say, Slav is not innocent of blame, despite the abject performances and effort from many of the players. The board must take some blame too, particularly the Prince trying to run the club on a shoestring.

Then freeing up £10m for him as per the post from BCM would appear to be very unlikely .

BCM liked your post SR yet on his own post pronounces that Slav will have £10m.

Is it me?

The higher management see the manager as the problem not their ability to fund one club in a sustainable manner let alone FIVE football clubs (four of them hopeful punts).

Those at fault often blame everything and everyone but themselves. But, if the renound Athletic (panicle of football insider knowledge) sez Slavs at fault the who ani to argue.

Cup er tea an a slice er cake

My biggest concern with Slav is that he actually accepted the job given the crock of shit he was inheriting. Did he not take a good hard look first? Obviously not and THAT is worrying.
He said it was the best squad of players he had taken over.
