Like, I suspect, 95% of United fans, I don't give a flying fuck as to whether people consider United's football to be "good". I want us to win.

I suspect a great many more than 5% have the common sense to realise that good football is a pretty good recipe for winning. The clue is in the appellation! Good football and Alehouse football do not give you an equal chance of success. They don't. Only the 'Hoofers Fallacy' asserts otherwise.

All this teaming and ladling just like Reg Brearley used to do in his last stint in charge, you know what I think McCabe even puts Brearley in the shade when it comes to incompetence and short term thinking littered with mistakes.

No, I would rather we had seen the delights that Wilson brought us the season before. You know before all his best players were sold/locked up............
..............as would be the case with whoever we employ. If that's the best football that could be served up on a budget at least twice that of all our competitors, then it's failure and absolute boredom that people will stop watching in their masses.

So your argument is not that United fans want "good football" per se. You agree with me that they want winning football and your argument is that, good football (as you define it) equals winning football.

I detect the faint whiff of circularity.....

The key question then is how much is the lease payment the PLC are charging the Ltd company for the ground, isn't it ?
As I understand it at the moment, it is nothing and whilst McCabe has 100 % control it will probably stay that way.

I'm guessing he'll start to charge as and when someone buys into the football club as an investor.

Who knows ? No one seems interested in investment

I detect a faint whiff of a lot of things but lets not get away from the point that surely promotion via nice to watch football is the place we should try to be.

What concerns me more is that even I can see that Warnock is starting to become an option we should really look at. Even if its just to get us out of this hellhole. As much as I think its a step backward hes a better manager than those we are looking at right now.

I know, Judge and LSF have had to pick themselves off the deck. :)

NOW WHOS IN A MUDDLE

lease it
not even an option , its a myth to further a view thats built on hate
it has no substance , if you can prove 100% he intends to claim the ground and lease it , publish it or shut up

plc s will move assetts around for various reasons, mainly tax related
your conspiracy theories are tiresome, unsupported and plain wrong

his appointments havent all been wrong unless you didnt enjoy any of 2003 - 2006
we were above the pigs for a decade , yes it isnt nice to be behind now, but lets keep our heads

What on earth are you on about? Not an option? Of course it is an option. You buy SUFC Ltd - it needs a ground to play on, he rents BDTBL to SUFC Ltd under new ownership (or sells to Tesco if new owner tells him to do one). He has already claimed the ground. I am still waiting to be convinced how/why McCabe thinks separating BDTBL from SUFC Ltd is for the good of the football club.

And all this nonsense about comparing SUFC to some huge multi-national plc transferring assets for tax reasons is a joke as well. A company needs to make profits to pay tax. The transfer of the ground from SUFC Ltd was a desparate act of a desperate man trying to salvage something from the wreck of his family company - simple as that.

Pinch, Dazzler just called you a fat bastard.

Pinch, Dazzler just called you a fat bastard.

Indeed. I demand an immediate apology.

Incidentally, you recently accused a number of members of this community of being involved with Hermann Göring's air arm of the Nazi Wehrmacht. I await your unreserved apology and an offer of amends.

.

So absolutely nothing to back up your conspiracy theory , except more comspiracy theories
an absolute joke

how has he seperated it when both come under sufc plc
yes its in a holding company name , but chelseas ground is under a seperate company name
come to that so is mnanchester uniteds

are they being fleeced too

You flatter me! Good football has been defined by others even greater than I. It's been defined by the glorious history of the game. Brazil 1970 made a seminal statement; Platini's France made a substantial contribution and more latterly the Spaniard's and Argentinian's have added their own Hispanic and Latin gloss.

There are a number of phrases in common usage that adopt the definition.

"...they play the game the right way..."

"...we like to get it down and play..."

"...they play good football..."

"...win the physical battle then let your football take over..."

None of these phrases are ever used by or about: Sheffied United; Neil Warnock; Quickfix Mickey; Semi-Pro or Dinosaur Dave. They are ascribed to and employed by teams that can control a football, pass it to a team-mate; move into space intelligently to receive the ball or open up play for a team-mate.

Why is such football good? Because it is aesthetically pleasing? Yes, but more than that, teams that play this 'good football' will routinely, subject to the odd exception, prevail handsomely (in more ways than one) over teams that play "shite football". See below:

The phrases are never used in relation to agricultural, ale house "lump it down the middle and feight for it" "relentlessly chase the shadows of proper footballers" outfits. Why? Because it's garbage? Yes, but more than that, such teams will, subject to the odd (and happily diminishing) exception, fail and fail ugly.

These self-evident truths have been recognised, the world over, save for a backwater in Northern England known as Shooffield, or, in Olde English, Gerritintbox.

I would suggest that the Warnock team of 02/03 and in particular the midfield of Tonge - McCall - Brown - Ndlovu did indeed play good football. All of them could control a ball and run with it, all of them could find a pass and we've rarely if ever had better than McCall for making himself available to the man on the ball, then moving it on well himself.

When we went up level on points with Leeds in 89 we played similar styles , they had chapman we had deane , we knock it up to Deane , it was hit and hope , Leeds do an identical ball to Chapman it was an inch perfect measured pass.

As it was then it will ever be so , we are not press friendly , we are tarred forever as plucky, triers, hard working ,

We are prone to use the air shot, toss it in , rely on set pieces

The fact Man Utd score more goals from set pieces than open play is a quirk of statisatics
We will play some lovely stuff from time to time, get totally overlooked, and always be ,northern grafters, no matter what

Would you like me to pick you up some Vaseline from Boots while I'm at Meadowhall - seeing as how you're so content to be shafted up the arse by the club?[/quote

mmmmmmmmm Vaseline.
