Sky red button games

It's HD on Sky Q (think it's streamed over wi-fi rather than broadcast on Sky Q, so they can provide it in HD).

It's only iFollow though with a commentary so it's not broadcast quality unfortunately.

It'd be nice to get a bit of multicamera on the go.

I’ve just tried to record our match on the red button but no other matches are listed, except for the main Piggie match. All the Tuesday matches are there though, hmmm hopefully it’s a timing thing and it’ll appear later.

You need to be subscribed to Sky Sports HD - but from 1st October they withdrew the SD sports channels and automatically put all on to HD (with appropriate price increase) so you should get it by default. It is streamed, though, rather than through your dish so runs about 90 seconds behind the real action (just in case you are wanting a bet!).

What annoys me is that on Soccer Special, when the dive into matches now an then, they show replays and various camera angles. But on the red button, it's just the one static camera.

Think it might find that has changed from this week. Switched across a few matches last night and it showed a number of angles and also replays on all of them. We will probably just get the one angle and no replays tonight!

Sky don't even show replays of goals that have just been scored for the red-button games, unfortunately.

Last night I watched a stream of the Hull v Leeds game which was taken from LeedsTV, not Sky. It had replays. Apparantly it costs a tenner to watch a single game. Could be wrong but I think Leeds haven't opted in to iFollow

Aye we’ve got all the HD packages. I’ll have a proper look tonight. It’s not a massive problem to me but HD is far superior.

As for the delay - best turn my phone off while the game is on. Mates are pests for texting me when game is on

Thanks for your help but thats rubbish on Sky's part as the app is only for mobile devices so I will have to watch it on my phone.

It's all very work in progress at the minute. If it's not a feature game, they're quite obviously not going to have the resources for replays and multiple camera angles.

It's a good idea initially and a great platform to build on for the future. My only concern is that it'll more than likely have a detrimental effect on attendances. It was apparent against Brum the other week.

Think it did thankfully. Ultra HD seems to be the ‘new’ thing.

First time I watched on the red button last night, the picture quality wasn't great but I was very surprised that it was only about 4 or 5 seconds behind the Radio Sheffield commentary.

Good: getting to watch the Blades more often.
Bad: the effect it has on my nerves!
