Given the fact that two of our Blades footballing family have kits manufactured by Nike, can we have them do our please?

I note that Chengdu have started this year in the second tier after their enforced relegation in a Nike produced red and white striped kit, black shorts. And Ferencvaros also have their tradditional green and white kit by Nike.

The styling of the striped Hungarian kit is better than the Chinese - but its the quality of the clothing and the other training and leisure wear that they produce that is vastly superior to the poor quality cheap crap that Macron pump out.

Has anybody NOT had a problem with the logo coming of the sleeves of the replica kits for instance ? And the associated clothing available from the club shop is poor in choice and style.

My lad has just got his new team strip for Swanland U8's for next season. Its by Macron. The logo's coming off in the packet.

AND they do L#*ds' kit. Dirty.

Given our experience of "The Blades Way" - I suspect its more likely that Chengdu and the Fradi will end up being saddled with our cheap as chips shite instead.

I have the Nike Fradi kit from last season, and the quality is great.

Unfortunately I think it comes down to how much of the £40 Utd get to keep when they sell a shirt and I presume Macron charge us the least.

Unless you become a client of Nike Football like Fradi are due to them being an actual name in football, You have to go through a third party nike agent who take over the club shop completely and take a large amount of money from sales etc.

Palace have gone down this route as have Fulham.

I would suggest The chengdu kits are just Nike sunday league still kits that the club have sewn badges on to, maybe they have ordered a fair few to cover the small demand from the fans but I can't imagine any deal between Nike and Chengdu.

I think Utd should be hammering on Umbro's door to get them to produce us a "tailored in Sheffield by Umbro" kit similar to the Man City/ England/ Forest kits. United have a good history in Umbro Kits.

Macron is terrible, the fuzzy felt logos are peeling off the arms of mine, I'm 25 and have to have a extra large boys shirt to prevent it from looking like a baggy market mess.

Although the way kit socks are mint!

Still Macron OUT!

I agree with the call for Umbro shirts. They seem to be making a bit of a resurgence at the minute. However, I can't see it happening, we still have x amount of years left with Macron.

Did anyone have a look round swillsborough on Sunday or even Eastlands on Saturday?

I would say 75% of the crowd were wearing theres clubs present season's shirt, making the grounds a see of pale blue/blue and white take a look around Bramall Lane on Saturday and just notice how many different variety of SUFC shirt you see on display.

SWFC sold out of all stock in a week when this season's puma shirt was released, I think I read it was something like 7,000 shirts.

I have never heard of such demand for an SUFC shirt, but I would be willing to bet big that if the Club forfeited the 750k that is left to paid by Macron (4 year 1 million pound deal) and got Umbro on the blower then the club would double if not treble the amount of shirts and training gear it shifts in a season.

The fact their "sponsor" on the front is a charity (presumably a popular one for people in S.Yorks too) probably helps to sell more of the shirts.

I doubt it mate.

I think only SWFC fans buy SWFC shirts, I think the boom in sales has more to do with the memories associated with Wednesday in Puma kits than the daft looking teddy on the front.

I think parents who've had kids treated in the children hospital would disagree! I'd rather buy a Blades kit with a charity name on the front rather than a random company but that's just me regardless of who makes the shirt. The puma thing may help obviously and of course it's SWFC fans buying SWFC shirts - I didn't mean the charity logo encourages randomers to go and buy a pig shirt!

Its not the sponsor or the manufacturer its the badge and the stripes I get the shirt for.

Another huge thumbs down for Macron, I reckon they are probably the worst kit manufacturer we have ever had, (and that inclludes the Avec efforts) I would even welcome back LCS instead of Macron.

I bought my lad his first proper Blades shirt for Xmas, the "visit malta.com" logo and the maltese star have gone and the arm patches are on the way out too. The only thing still intact is his name and number on the back.

Load of crap and I wont buy another shirt made by Macron.

I agree with the comments re Umbro. There is a great marketing opportunity out there, alongside a traditional style kit. "Tailored in the Home of Football, for the original United"

The comments re Nike and to some extent Puma are correct. Sold through an intermediary who take over the store and merchandise etc. It also means you get some generic kits rather than something with some originality. Umbro would give us that.

I liked the look of the Macron kit at the start of the season. Proper red and white stripes, no messing with the design. Unfortunately the quality of the material, the sizing and the cut of the shirt is awful. As for the 120 year shirt that cuts off the names of some of the true Blades heroes.........

This "Blades Family" of clubs is pretty pointless, if you cannot fully exploit the simple things like kit and merchandise production , nevermind actually benefiting from promising players. Then again, how many of the clubs are actually in United's ownership!? And is it not some what fortuitous that players "released" by the Blades end up at Fradi?

Me too, all I was saying is some people might like the idea of a charity on the front compared to the usual company name. It may have helped sell a few more of their shirts.

If they are buying a SWFC in the belief that they are financially helping the charity, they are at best mistaken and at worst duped.

Tell United of your experience with macron,

Take pictures of the shirt and send them to [email protected] he's head of retail and therefore is to blame for SUFC's decision to go with Macron.

This goes for everyone, if you have had any problems with the rubbish that macron produce, let him know.

If he does not know how bad they are he will think that everyone is happy with this seasons tat.

I find myself agreeing with the majority here: Macron out, Umbro in!

Just sent the following email to Mr Pridmore, I will let you know if I get a reply.....

Hello Peter

I understand you are head of retail at SUFC and have some responsibility for the awful decision that was to appoint Macron as our official kit suppliers. I would draw your attention to the following thread on S2 4SU where as you will see no-one has a good word to say about the quality of the Macron kits;

http://www.s24su.com/showthread.php?18449-Sister-Clubs-Kit-Manufacturer

For your info I am poster Torrix1889 and my son is most upset that the sponsors logo has more or less totally peeled of from the front of the shirt we bought him at Christmas, the colours have also bled despite following the washing instructions.

Personally I will not waste another penny on a piece of Macron kit and I do hope that the deal you struck with them will be enough to compensate the loss of shirt sales revenue that you must be getting.

If I was in charge of sorting these deals out the first question I would ask any salesman is "Have you read the Autobiography of Sheffield United?" If the answer was anything but yes he would be packing up his fabric samples in a second.

Sheffield United play at the real Home of Football

The club is the original United

The history of this club is dotted with moments and landmarks of real historical importance to the game.

Some true greats have played for this club.

All these things should be reflected in the kit that the current players take pride in wearing, it should be an honour to manufacture the kit for Sheffield United Football Club, poor quality materials and manufacturing techniques should not be an option.

The screen printing of red stripes onto white fabric is a nasty technique and should be flatly rejected by the Club.

What does it say about the team and club itself if the colours on the shirts run?

Restrained and constructive as ever ;p

I seem to remember reading that when the old fluorescent lime green kit first came out it was the most popular club shirt in the country in terms of sales. It was a long time ago though so I could have false memory syndome

If the Home was made in the same style of the away strip (I still don't understand why the home and away strips are the same colours!) then it might not look as bad. On my home shirt, the red has started to run into the white stripes and as people have said on here the side things are peeling.

I would welcome an Umbro kit but not like Sunderlands. Make it look like a classic Blades one and not do what LCS did and let a fan design the kit. I hated last seasons

I think with the people who live in the Chengdu area (there's fecking millions of em) they won't have a problem selling any kits out there and Nike will have seen this as a big cash cow by getting into the Chinese market.

With regards to the possibility of Umbro kits, they are owned by Nike so it wouldn't make much difference either way.

It's crap, bloody high necklines....

I don't want Nike or Adidas, it just means we'll have the same style kit as about 20 other clubs in England, I want originality.

Like our famous luminous green promotion shirt, the purple and yellow halved shirt and recently our bright orange away shirt.

The last ones I bought, and the last ones I'll ever buy, were the home and away kits from the last PL season. The sponsor's logo on the away shirt peeled off almost instantly, and the one on the home kit fell apart progressively. I couldn't care less about the sponsors logo but it makes the whole shirt look crap when it's falling away.

The quality of those shirts was really poor. I have Umbro and Avec kits from the early and mid 1990s that I used to wear far more that are still in better shape. The Macron stuff seems no better.

On the plus side, I've been playing in a United keeper's jersey for nearly 3 years now and that's still in great condition despite all the hammer it's taken.

Going on the fact that this season's home shirt is from the Macron "Iveland" template colloection, I would assume that next seasons will indeed come from the small collection of templates macron use.

Here is the 2010-11 Sheffield United Home shirt from the "Iberia" collection
