Not necessarily expecting us to be in for this lad, but I would hope we're keeping tabs on him.

I saw him for the Nike academy a couple of years ago; it was only one game, so I couldn't make any conclusions, but he was clearly talented.
He was fast, great running with the ball and had a nice first touch. His crossing wasn't bad, and he even looked decent on his left foot too. I fancied him to make a career for himself in league football.

While at the Nike academy he had trials at (then championship) Barnsley & Huddersfield. He was offered a deal by the latter, but unfortunately picked up an injury. After recovering from his injury, back at the Nike academy, he signed for Grimsby in L2.

Last season, he played 30-odd games for Grimsby, scoring four goals. On the back of his good form, he secured a move to Peterborough, where he's started the season in fine form, picking up 2 goals from the wing already.

I still think we lack a little pace and trickery, and I also feel having more wide players, like Dembele, will make us more adaptable, giving us options going forward.

Possible target in Jan maybe?

We were said to be monitoring him before the last January window, and could have easily signed him then or this summer for next to nothing.

He's since moved to Peterborough and had a few decent games, so is now worth at least £20m. So it would seem quite wasteful if we went and spent a big fee on him so soon after he was available for very little. Similar situation to Jack Marriott.

I think L1 was the right move for him this summer (as it was for Marriott) but I wouldn't have minded us signing him now in the knowledge that we haven't reinvested the Brooks money in a single attacking player.

Apparently has a big attitude problem (from a source very close to GTFC). They were planning to release him but then received a £100k offer (can't remember who from) which was initially accepted but then gazumped by P'boro who offered £200k. GTFC were glad to get rid.

.

That surprises me tbh.

I did wonder about his attitude after noticing he only spent 1 year at Grimsby before handing in a transfer request.

I think the bit about them wanting to release him is bollocks though mate.

I can assure you it's not bud - that was indeed the plan as they didn't think he was worth a fee.

Not 100% sure but think the club that offered £100k was Bradford.

Still sounds fishy to me. Why would they release a player they could receive a fee?

Why did Peterborough/Bradford make a bid if he was due to be released?

Doesn't add up.

As for Siriki Dembele, see how he develops. A lot of players at that level tend to have a flash in the pan few months and then are never seen again.

We do need to think about a long term Duffy replacement though.

Only problem is that if you wait to see whether or not they were a flash in the pan, you risk increasing both the asking price and competition for his signature.

Very true. I'd love us to take another couple of Adams/Wallace style punts from non league, Ilkeston or the likes.

Me too.

Considering that a non league striker isn't likely to cost more than £1m (probabaly less). And a good Championship striker is worth around £10m (often more), you effectively only need 1/10 to come off for it to be viable.

Handed in a transfer request. I beg the board at SUFC look at him as an alternative to Mcgoldrick. Please Please Please
