Having just watched more shambolic highlights (Preston) I was wondering how we can continue to play such an absolutely utter and gobsmackingly shite goalkeeper like Simonsen.
The first goal was a speculative shot from about 1000 yards that bounced all the way past him.
The second went over his head and through is flailing hands.

In comparison, the Preston goaly made a stunning stop from a Monty volley to show how it's done.
In fact he showed the normal goalkeeping traits of positional sense and awareness - something that Simmo absolutely lacks at crucial moments.

I am not a regular attender but thought he has been doing better lately. Saying that, I would not be too disappointed if he was one of the ones we offloaded in the summer.

I can remember when we signed him a lot of people were saying he was better than Kenny.

:D

I had high hopes for Simmo when he signed permanently after his decent loan spell. Remember his introduction v QPR at the Lane? Didn't quite work out as we'd all hoped. Let him go. Shan't miss him. Got to be some better keepers out there we can go for, I'd say George Long as a great back up but not ready for 1st choice responsibility.

Maybe ex-pig Burch from Notts County? Can't see us getting anyone such as Lewis from Peterborough or Smithies from Huddersfield.

Earlier on this season pondering signing Speroni from Palace is they were to go down and we stay up. Not going to happen now I don't think.

He is ok better than Bunn not a a patch on paddy who has a lot to answer for in my opinion. Judas

Maybe Paddy saw what was on the horizon and a bit of a pay rise and a chance at the league title was too much to turn down? He must be glad he left now.

Seems to me alot of goals sail over his head through his flailing hands, either he's very short or gets his position wrong maybe???
Anyway he's average at best.
When you think about some of the keepers of the past we had? Tracey Rees Kelly :cry2:

Unfortunatly he just isn't good enough, that combined with an absolutely dire defense in front off him, never having the same four in front of him have all combined to make him appear a poorer goalie than he is. We need a new goalie, along with defense, midfield and strike force.

We need a defensive unit that will grow together and build confidence in each other. As such, just Simmo's age makes doing that with him not an option.

For a senior pro he is lacking in any leadership or vocal support and instruction and is way too slow off his line when it matters.

Aksalu and Long certainly both look the part in terms of their physicality so I wouldn't be too shocked to see them fight it out for the #1 spot next season.

Chances of finding another Tracey/Kenny for similar or less money are beyond slim these days. I guess with Harry behind the scenes he may spot another gem!

Was surprised to see Lonergan had lost his place and was on the bench for Preston ,he has always impressed me.

You try maintaining any confidence when you have that shower of a defence in front of you. The first goal can hardly be blamed on him. A defender ducked out of the way!

We also have to remember that Simonsen has been a solid and reliable keeper all his career.....but according to some people not since he's been here.....funny that.

Very true, but his confidence is shot now. He'll never recover from the thought of Nos, Kozzy and Collins being in front of him!

I am not sure but did we change our goalkeeping coach in the summer. Not saying it has made him worse

One of Simmo's faults is his shite lateral and backwards movements when coming for a cross or in most fook up corners. Just leaves him in a bad position so ends up flapping and punching when with better movement he would do better. Generally shot stopping he is great.

One of our main problems has been that most of our loans have been defenders which won't help. A good summer with hopefully a permanent back 4 to play with should help. He just needs to work on a few things and he will be good as gold next year

Heard it metioned during comms that he's already signed up for Everton next season and PNE can't afford to risk an injury in case the deal were to collapse.

Yes, I shook my head too...

True, we've had a constant flow of injuries and suspensions to defenders too which has resulted in the need to bring in loanees.

his wage was doubled !! also they made his wages up for the 9 months he was suspended.we paid him a % for the 9 months. would love to know how much neil got out of it,but thats summatt we´ll never know !!!

i'd have said 'sign tommy lee from chessy' but seeing as we'll be in the same division i don't suppose he'd want to come now?

He was good on loan, and well thought of before he joined us. Do people think it's his ability, or concentration/judgement that's let him down this season?

Wow!! I didn't realise that!! Quite an offer on the table.

Plus there's a huge bonus pot at QPR if they are promoted and a player makes a certain number of appearances! He's quids in now!
