Jesus Christ! Long is a liability in goal. How much more evidence do you need FFS? It would be a disaster if he got back between the sticks. We've seen that over several years now with him. How can you or anyone possibly think different to that? Or are you just trying to be the first to say something so you can come back later if he has a good game and say, "I told you so?".

The guy should never be at the club - in fact, he should never be a professional footballer and I don't think he will be in a couple of years time. He's diabolical. No club wants him. He's let us down time and time again - and you're there going, "welcomed back in the side"
Cyborgs! Being critical of Long gets us no where if he has to play anytime
we need to support him give him a bit of Beleafe. He is rhe stand in keeper now ( can't sign another) yes he has dropped some bullocks but is a capable keeper.
The last thing we want is to make him nervous,at. this stage we need to get behind all players who turn out in the run in.
Come on you blades

Should be okay for Saturday then, I've broke my nose twice and been at work next day both times.

Okay I was working for an advertising agency at the time but the point stands.

Once broke my nose whilst AT work.

Do I win a prize?

You said Moore wouldn't be in the game in 6/7 years time not that long ago. And claimed no one had heard of him when we signed him and "now we are finding out why".

(After claiming earlier he was a good signing)..

You clearly know a lot about goalkeepers.

McNulty isn't a keeper, but fortunately we have an excellent back up in George Long.

If Moore was out for Saturday, i'd have no concerns about George Long being welcomed back into the side

I don't mind Long coming in for the odd game but would prefer it not to be the pressure cooker games that are the next 2. If he plays at home to Coventry or away at Swindon, I can live with that.

He's a kid who has come through the academy and his potential has been recognised by England, who have capped him twice.

He has made 100 appearances for us and 23 elsewhere.

During that time he has made a few mistakes, as any young goalkeeper might. Some have cost us points but he has also saved us plenty of occasions.

He is not a child molester, Islamic State sleeper or a Wednesday fan.

FFS, give the lad a break. If he does have to come in he needs all the encouragement we can offer, not the tripe you posted above. Are you sure you are cut out to be a football supporter?

I think he's played in games with just as much at stake before and performed admirably.

He has a times but he is prone to an error and his presence would unsettle the crowd which in turn can affect him. I think we need every advantage we can get in the next 2 games and having a buzzing atmosphere is part of that.

As i said, Long will be fine, he does a lot more good to more than make up for his mistakes in the odd games he plays

All about opinions mate and I think I probably rate Long higher than most on here but for the big pressure games like these 2, I want the strongest possible team and for me, that includes Moore.

Knill said Moore's broken nose won't be an issue because he's a keeper.

I guess that depends on whether or not his eyes also bruise up. I've broken mine a couple of times and the last time I looked like Foo Man Choo!

I think Swiss is saying the same. Nobody is disputing that Moore is number 1, but tothrow daggers at your number two is fucking stupid. not saying you are personally.

Of course. Moore is first choice keeper, but the histeria on this thread about IF Moore is injured is ridiculous.

Long is perfectly capable to play a few games and thankfully the players will see Long in training every day and have confidence in him

Yeah I largely agree with that. I think Lavery, O'Shea, Carruthers etc. are all capable but still hope that Sharp, Duffy and Coutts are available for these huge games for similar reasons. As I say, the only reason playing Long would give me more concern than those is the relationship with the crowd and how that might affect the atmosphere when we need to be really ramping it up. If he makes a mistake early on and we go behind, it could give us a bigger problem than if Moore did the same.

You're absolutely right and for his own sake i'd hope that he finds a new club in the summer, its funny how Coutts, Freeman and Done are allowed to move their careers on at the club by performing on the pitch, but the mere thought of George Long even setting foot on the pitch is unacceptable to some. Its shameful.

I had my nose rearranged after a thump on a Saturday morning training last January but was still at training on the following Monday, it did inhibit me from getting stuck in though. Had to have an operation to have it straightened a week later.
I'm guessing Moore's a bit harder than I was being a professional sportsman and all that

Had mine broken in the ring sparring, full blown Thai boxing shin kick straight across the face, had to sit with a plastic vending machine cup under my nose for about 20 minutes, blood pouring out like someone had turned a tap on.

Moore and Long have been "spied" this afternoon in a Gym in Sheffield - working out.

He looked fine according to my "spy"

he'll be reight.........

UTB
