For gods sake people stop getting so uptight when somebody mentions monty in a different way then "he's the greatest thing ever" all he said was that quinn has real natural talent and monty doesnt have anywhere near the level. Go and see squinn and its pretty obvious. Monty is doing well and should be in the team. Not everything with the words "monty" and "football talent" means its a dig. Christ.

Well i've been watching united for 36 years.

Forgive me for enjoying this season! They don't come along as good as this that often.

Your allowed to be anything you want to be. Unless you'd like to give me an example of enforced opinions/power trips. I think they are evident many places, here is not one of them.

If sticking up for a player of a team i'm supposed to support and having differing opinions on their performance (which i've actually seen with my own eyes) makes me a "happy clapper" then fine, I couldn't care less.

I'll happily clap and support the Blades to the Premiership, or wherever they are destined to be, for life.

Apologies ;)

I'm not uptight, I just give my opinion. If it doesn't match yours i'm apparently a happy clapper or uptight.

I'm afraid there only seems to be you that gets so uptight and that's why people don't see your "sense of humour".

Why do you think "everybody" ???

I put a bloody wink on the end of it and said "so there" in a childish way, youd have to be pretty retarded to think that i was being serious.

Maybe you'd have to be bloody retarded not to think they were joking back:rolleyes:

Sense of humour only works one way by the look of it.

If he read the rest of the board and took notice how much of what is posted is serious?

once again who's uptight?

Sharpy ask anyone what i'm really like.

easy goin as they come!! and its the same here!! just that you seem to have the ability to piss everyone off, then when we come back u just make stupid comments!

Taking this thread as an isolated example, I can sympathise with Sharpy. I left work yesterday and this thread had just turned the corner from simple chat (about the merits of certain senior players compared with the yoof), into yet another thread arguing about Nick Montgomery. I made my point back to Foxy defending my post and stating it wasn't a "dig" and I have to admit I felt a little aggrieved that I had to do that.

I left it at that and then I come in again this morning to find the thread had spread to 5 pages of sly comments and silly digs.

I think Sharpy's "happy clapper" comments were a little misguided - joking or not - but after Foxy's original response to me, it did make me feel a bit like the "Monty Police" were out in force. I joined this forum and was very pleased to find that the freedom of speech act was very much apparent but there are just a couple of sticking points - Nick Montgomery being one of them.

We're all just football fans supporting the same cause - albeit in different ways. Can I call for calm and ask people to read every post carefully before responding? Always presume others are writing their comments with a smile on their faces - I know I usually am. :) I'm a Blade and I'm happy - and I think I've got Sharpy's number in that he's a cheeky chappy with a penchant for mischievous shit-stirring - but he's still a Blade - I've never met him so I don't know for sure but people need to stop getting so annoyed with him - take Linz's approach if you must - laugh at him - but don't jump on everything he says and try to wind him up - it's too easy.

Altogether now... we ain't got a barrell of money... :D :D :D

You a headteacher tonyagana? :D

To get back to the thread and go full circle.....Francis is now back at the Lane.

It's up to him now to impress and get into the team.

As most of us on the forum do say......

If he gets in and plays better than others in his position/job we have no problem at all with him having the shirt.

But who would drop Kozzy after the derby match?

Your not allowed to be anything but a happy clapper on this board, remember that

LOL well it makes a change from BU and Unitedite.

Also it isnt hard to notice when sharpy is joking.

Nope, not at all, ifil has had a handfull of half decent matches and that's it, with warnock's infatuation in playing him makes me really mad....KEEEFFFFFFF should get the nod and then it will give Ifil the motivation to become better or at least show he's worthy of his price tag !

Have you been watching diffent matches to me recently, Ifill is a handful has scored goals and created them. He is a confidence player and with people like you slagging him off no wonder he doesn't always play well.

P.S. The monty is god bit....are you Tino in disguise? and welcome to the forum:D

Ifill - 7 goals - 8 or 9 assists
You - Wrong

Francis is back at the lane!:D Hopefully neil has seen what a talent he is, played 90 mins for the football league team last night and is in line to be called up to the england U21 team by all accounts. At least put him on the bench, kozzy doesnt deserve to be dropped but in the big picture i feel francis can become a great player for us.

No disrespect to geary or kozzy but they have there limitations. Weve seen what they can really do but with francis it would be very unfair not to let him have his chance, afterall lets remember if he hadnt of got glanduler fever he would be our 1st choice right back right now.

P.S - Im a ******day fan ;)

Who needs paul sturrocko, weve got sharpinio.........hmmmm doesnt have quite the same ring to it.

This thread has now come full circle, odd.

To GCB - That blade bloke, i agree with you. Ifill is a quality player, just a little inconsistent.

I'm better than Francis! Send him to Tamworth on loan :)

I joined this forum and was very pleased to find that the freedom of speech act was very much apparent but there are just a couple of sticking points

To be a pedant, there is no such thing as Freedom of Speech, and certainly no Freedom of Speech Act.

Freedom of Expression is Article 10 of the European Convention on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, directly applicable in UK law thanks to the Human Rights Act 1998.

Everyone has the right to freedom of expression. This right shall include freedom to hold opinions and to receive and impart information and ideas without interference by public authority and regardless of frontiers.

This however, is quantified by the following, which is a restricting force, rather than a rights giving one...

The exercise of these freedoms, since it carries with it duties and responsibilities, may be subject to such formalities, conditions, restrictions or penalties as are prescribed by law and are necessary in a democratic society, in the interests of national security, territorial integrity or public safety, for the prevention of disorder or crime, for the protection of health or morals, for the protection of the reputation or rights of others, for preventing the disclosure of information received in confidence, or for maintaining the authority and impartiality of the judiciary.

One may argue therefore, that freedom of expression may always be restricted. Take the case of the Muslim cleric Abu Hamza for example. His case hinged on the right to say what he wanted under the Freedom of Expression, he was jailed for seven years for what he said.

And so to Freedom of Expression on this forum.

We allow it because we chose to. Sharpy has never been censored to my knowledge, nor warned for expressing his views. He is totally free to express whatever he wants. But you must understand that Foxy is free to reply.

Sometimes, one has to ignore the "Administrator" tag under his name, as, in this thread, he is replying as an ordinary member of the forum. Sharpy and everyone else is free to say what they want within the bounds of English law (we'll get to that later) but if they expect their arguments not to be disagreed with, then they've come to the wrong place. If his views don't coincide with those of the majority of the forum, then it's his choice whether he sticks around or not. Personally, I hope he does because, despite his sometimes abrasive ways of expressing his opinions, he does have some interesting things to say.

Back to the forum in general. We reserve the right to edit posts because we have to. At the end of the day, if anything libelous is said by anyone, the buck stops with Foxy as site owner and his mate Timmy as hoster. We have never had to do this yet but some sites operate differently.

Some sites don't allow swearing to appeal to the target demographic - we have no problem with it. Some sites restrict membership - the more the merrier here. If any content is a bit dodgy, we move it to the Pig and Truffle so that only registered members can see it. I've never refused anyone the password to the Pig and Truffle if ever anyone wants it.

At the end of the day, Sharpy can say what he wants, but everyone else can say what they want in return. If someone feels things are getting too personal, drop me a PM and I'll step in to calm things down if necessary but whatever freedom exists on this board, extends to all.

As you were....
