"We also saw the value of having a good goalkeeper, you need the saves he made at times and the total concentration at all times. Simmo kept us in the game at 2-2 and got his angles right, which were crucial"

Happy to congratulate him if he has a good game but "total concentration at all times" is clearly wide of the mark and insults the intelligence of fans who continue to witness basic errors (ie the spill on Sunday that should have gifted them an equaliser just before our 2nd)

Much prefer a tactic of trying to build up his confidence than trying to destroy it like the fans did at PNE last night.

Didn't Wilson also say something to the media about just feeding them bland lines as actions speak louder than words? He might be looking for a new keeper as we speak.

I thought the fans at Preston last night were quite patient with him tbh.
Considering his dreadful season last year, the howlers he's dropped so far this season and his shocking kicking and goof for the first goal (theirs) he didn't get too much sarcasm.
With a reallistic head on; he is a competent shot stopper, but considering he is a "big lad" he is a fairy in the air if there is ANY sort of challenge on him !! He cannot catch a ball (therefore justifying the nickname "Dracula") and his punching lacks any sort of strength or direction. He also regularly parries shots back into the danger area instead of out of play or out to safety.
In short; he's a bloody liability and its obvious to see the defenders have no confidence in him.
If Wilson was not being denied funds by the Board, Simmo would have more chance of shitting in the Queens handbag (sorry ma'am) than getting on the team-sheet.
The supporters who went to Deepdale last night were immense - brilliant support for 96 mins.

Yeah, Simmo's great.

You're still getting a replacement in in time for Saturday's game though right Danny?

I hope DW is just trying to build his confidence up!

I'm all for building confidence but he still needs replacing... and soon

Let's all pray Simmo doesn't read any of the threads on here though- God help us if he does.

He'd put his head in his hands if it wouldn't slip straight through

If the fans can't understand that what the manager says in public and what he thinks in private could possibly be different, then he isn't insulting much, is he..?

I would agree with you were it not for the total concentration piece. He should praise him publicly and criticise him in private but I'm reading the OTT bit as a message to the fans that he's here to stay.

Maybe he's making a point to the fans who think that heckling him is somehow going to improve his performance..?

Fair point and would applaud him for that, booing is only ever effective when you're trying to get rid of the manager, but he risks looking an arse or out of touch with the fans and even worse if he subsequently cocks up or gets rid.

I think, as we've seen many times Trafford, that the fans are know-nowts and he shouldn't worry about anything much other than getting performances and winning games.

If he's looking after his players first and foremost, that is far better than getting a few cheap shots off his players by playing to the gallery. He has my respect...

simmo read the threads on here, went outside and threw himself under a bus, unfortunatley it went thu his hands :)
no denying hes a decent shot stopper when he actually gets in the way, both of the goals last night were saveable and how many others?
most keepers use gloves made by adidas, nike or some other sport company, simmo has his made specially by Cussons, only goalie i know whos gloves are sponsored by Imperial Leather.
jokes aside can anyone including Wilson say simmo hasnt cost us points even this season, let alone last?
im sorry but on form of last 18 months he has to be replaced.
