God's country ...... Rovrum!
Stoke fan on the "other board" who gives us info, has just posted he's signed for us on a free.

Good business if correct

Perhaps that leaves a few bob of the PK money to get Nossy?

Edit: here's link from SCFC o/s, but can't actually see where it says he's signed for us ffs!!!!!

Either that is a deliberate omission or an unfortunate one. Whatever, it's BLOODY FRUSTRATING!!

Theres been enough from the serious ITK crew not to worry about this.

Very good acquisition for Blackwell...

It's been a done deal for a while. Simmo was waiting for a loyalty payout from Stoke and his contract was up 1st July.

Other clubs being interested might of muddied the waters but it's a good deal. First home game of the season there should be no boo's for QPR's keeper just chants for Simmo throughout and nothing but indifference to Paddy.

We could always throw on a few packets of cough remedy, though - Just as a silent protest, like.

arise Sir Clevor Trevor ...........................................:D

Balls to that. Paddy will get a right royal booing when he comes to the Kop - and rightly so. Simmo, if it's a done deal, will get the opposite - but I don't think it will make Kenny's life any easier.

Have you ever seen Paddy play badly due to getting stick from the opposition?

From what I have seen he thrives off it. I don't want to give him anything that will improve his performance. No reaction from the crowd, nothing at all would bother him far more.

Fair do's Bob - But I don't think the majority, me included, will be quite as objective as you!

I know what you mean, but this will be a bit different, and I can't recall that he has ever been on the receiving end of sustained hatred before. I may be wrong, but I think it will affect him.

Oh, and if Simmo signs I will be delighted. So far we have brought in a couple of players who are better than the ones they have replaced, Britton for Harper being another example. Lets hope he keeps it up, a CH & at least one full back of similar quality & the core of the squad is beginning to look much better than I expected it would. On the other end it could go the other way & we end up being not quite good enough in some areas. It will be really interesting to see who the next couple of signings are.

Thanks to Bob for sharing stuff with us all.

I still like my original post where I suggested we just turn our backs on him.

With reference to throwing cough mixture at him, why don't we all just start coughing and sneezing...

No, thats what we do anyway, so it will just make him feel at home.

perhaps simmo is not actually a freebie?

Mirror says he isn't, although I thought Stokes o/s site said he was?

"Stoke goalkeeper Steve Simonsen is also poised for the exit with a £400,000 move to Sheffield United."

I'm sure whatever deal / clause he has is designed to put money in his pocket rather than Stoke's and that, in effect, is his loyalty bonus. No doubt a fee of such has been paid, it's just how it's dressed up these days.

Wish the club would say something official, it says in today's Mail he's gone to QPR, but it is the Mail.

I saw that, it also said the same for Butterfield. I dont know what to think anymore

If its true Warnock wont be my favourite person. Then again he never was..........

I've just read the same, in the Mail also. I hope he hasn't gone there, because we only have 1 goalkeeper at the moment.

Despite various reports I have come to the conclusion that it is safest not to assume anything with Simonsen.

I just question why nothing official has come up from United's end yet. It just seems far too quiet. If it was imminent, we would know its imminent no matter how quiet the club wants to keep it. I'm not saying we're not going to get him but I get the gut feeling something else is going on.

The problem, as ever, is that his availability has been plastered all over the media. In the post signing quotes for just about every signing we make, they say things like 'There were a few last minute problems' or 'We had to wait on late bids from XXXX'.

You can understand the club not saying anything at this stage, everyone knows we're interested, Stoke have more-or-less said he's coming here and the ITK's say it's a done deal. That's not to say another club couldn't come in at any time.

I don't think he'll be going to QPR. Even if it was for money, i think he'll want first team football and QPR can't guarantee that. We can. Will we ever see Aksalu play a first team game? I have no idea what kind of quality he is.

The reports have been good and all they kept saying last season was that he needs time to 'settle in'. Presuming we only bring one keeper in, you'd have to assume he's going to be on the bench this season, no idea who, if anybody, we have coming through the academy.

Have to say, despite the notion of simmo going to qpr for ££££££££ i don't think he will, and I'm pretty sure he'll sign for us (can feel it in me waters)

Maybe we'll see some of Aksalu in pre-season?
