Do we have any of the original Silver Disc shareholders on the forum? I always understood that they provided lifelong entry (reduced from 2 originally) but the ticket office say that this expired last year. Has anybody been told the same or differently?

I know of 3 people who are original Siver Disc shareholders and they have been informed that theirs have expired at the end of this season.

Soory, have just re-read your comment - at the end of this season or last?

If they were sold on the condition of providing lifetime entry, can they legally 'expire'?

I suspect there's legal bollocks around the definition of lifetime.

I like the idea of life long entry. Didn't sound quite as creepy in my head though.

It's like those game shows that offer life time supply of Snickers or whatever..

it's actually a limited amount based on average amount consumed in a year by average consumer multiplied by x amount of years.

It was supposed to be for life.

But MacDonald put paid to that and the last season was last year.

My Dad has been an original shareholder.

Bought it for 70-odd quid in the 60s or 70s, which was. Slot of money at the time.

Paid itself back multiple times over.

It was Charles Green who pointed out the clause that the club reserved the right etc etc. But of a dick move all the same. At the time they could watch the cricket for free but the cricket moved off so it transferred to a free ticket.

Was a good investment. At one point I recall them changing hands for in excess of £5k.

My Dad's 85 now so his ticket ending and the accessibility of watching at home probably have come together at a good time, though he did go to watch with some friend in a Private Box when we played Huddersfield. I think my grandad stopped going when he was in his late 70s.

There's probably only so much pain and punishment you can take in a lifetime!
