So if all this about Beattie proves to be true and not just rumour, who would you seriously want us to go for?

Looking not just at his replacement but other necessary positions as well I'd say one new striker, preferably Beckford or Lita as well as another midfielder, ideally Chris Commons and a decent centre half.

I'd have been very pleased if we had signed Commons before he went to Derby, but there isn't much chance of signing him now. Other than that, I've really no idea.

If we could somehow manage to involve the swap of Dave Kitson in the Beattie transfer i would be over the moon. I would then like us to bring in one of Marlon Harewood, Leroy Lita or Robert Earnshaw and off-load Danny Webber at some point in the window.

I would then like to see the lad Berra arrive from Hearts to add competition at centre back and finally bring in Gary McSheffry for the left wing.
