I was surprised at the appointment of Wilson, but hes shown some strength of character actually walking straight into the lions den , confronting some blades head on , and when you think about it , its that sort of guts we need.
He did really well getting Swindon to a play off , with little and then had the team hed built torn apart by the board at Swindon, and walked out.
I think at this level hell do ok for us, I like the fact hes got Barlow and Dearden in, and so far has been plain speaking , and not trying to polish a turd, like they do at Hillsborough

NASTY NASTY , DO U WANT THE FULL BOX OLD CHAP , HAPPINESS HAPPINESS, makes you feel good

No amount of happy pills will make that Wednesday mantra more palatable.

We're all Wednesday aren't we? Yes you are, and we can see that by the headbands you wear to stop your bollocks banging into your eyes.

history lesson

the last time we were relegated to this division there were very similar reasons to be downbeat , poor squad , no money, crappy run down , new manager from a then up coming wimbledon, who are they ? 10000 gates at that time .

but we came straight back up and went streaight through to the top division like norwich just have done .

So we can all be miserable pessimists

or
god forbid

have a bit of faith and optimism

The problem is that the last time was not the first time we have been relegated to this division. On the previous occasion (1978-9) there were some similarities as well. On that occasion it took us 5 years to get back up to the second division but not before a further relegation.

Good point. I think people forget how poor Bassett's record was when he took us down in 1988:

P15 W5 D1 L9

Like Adams he took over when, whilst United were in trouble the situation wasn't critical. Whilst his record was not as bad as Adams, he still failed to do what he had been employed to do and keep us up (and unlike Adams, despite finishing third bottom, he had a second chance to keep us up via the play offs and failed there as well). In addition the team he had managed earlier that seasn - Watford - had also been relegated.

Bassett must have looked pretty much a busted flush in the summer of 88 and, I am sure, if message boards had been around then, there would have been strident calls for his head.

And in two of those 15 games under Bassett we had a couple of real hidings. 5-0 against Leeds and 6-0 against Middlesbro. Nowadays that result against Leeds on it's own would be enough to get many calling for the manager's dismissal!

Certainly, the fact that we have a poor squad, low morale and no money does not mean that things can't be turned around very quickly. But I get the feeling that people will not be very patient with Wilson, and if things don't go well pretty quickly the atmosphere could get unfriedly to say the least.

Although the fact that one manager turned things round shows it can be done, the 1978-9 example shows that things can also very quickly get even worse!

Im looking forward to next season about as much as I am to contracting AIDS.

I think this poor squad thing , forgets that we lost more than half the team for large chunks of the season to injury

When we started the season at Cardiff with a battling 1-1 draw , a game we dominated up to the 65th minute and were only caught because of being down to 10, of that squad of 18 , our first team only 4 managed to be able to play in the return fixture

Take 14 out of any squad and see how you fare, we even had to loan players for loan players that got injured

We seem to forget we had key players , only play a handful of games

too many players getting 7-18 games means no consistancy

If we can get 11-16 players playing 28-35 games minimum well be fine

That is a very good point Blade too long.

To me the major factors were
1 Kenny going and his replacement not having a good season.
2 Hendo being out nearly all season ( I know some dont like him but we would have scored more goals with him)
3 Morgan getting injured - really missed his leadership.
4 Bad appointments of managers. Blackwell should have gone in the close season and Speed should never have been appointed

well when you take any team , and then your bread and butter performers who give it its stabilty , like morgan henderson , taylor yeates williamson reid , who we ll could argue their individual worth , but take that stability out of any team and your going to suffer
Its a no brainer that if you look at QPRs appearances chart , theres 8 with over 35 appearances

We through injury never had that base, and 2 out of a squad of 24 , France and Walton never kicked a ball , yes neither were outstanding players , but 1 of them being consistantly average is better than 4 less than average loan players adjusting though 6 games each

I think that if Morgan would have been fit all last season we wouldn't have needed to chop and change so much at the back. There'd have been more stability, and we'd probably not have wasted money on Neill Collins. But more importantly I think we'd have stayed up. I know no team is a one man team, but i really do think that if Morgan had been a persistent figure in that side, we'd have stayed up.

Losing Morgan was the straw that broke our back

wed already lost Williamson Taylor Yeates Reid Walton etc , we were down to a reserve team after 15/ 20 games
we brought in Bartley then he got injured, and so on

Our defence has been make do and mend all season
