RIP Shred. Used to feel on top of the world when I got a nod of acknowledgement from him at the bus stop at Intake when I was a kid and he lived down the road.

If you believe in these things, he'll be looking down and smiling on all we've achieved in the last 5 years. There won't be a happier Blade in whatever afterlife exists.

I can’t believe it is 5 years since the great man passed. Players come and go at a football club, so do managers but the fans are always there for life, and Shred was our greatest.

A trip of Shreds Tours was a proper rite of passage for any young Blade going away and enjoying a good day on the ale and I did plenty. I’ve had a beer with him Scotland, Cornwall and plenty of places in between, and he was a genuinely nice bloke as well, no airs, no graces, he just enjoyed the company of his fellow supporters and was always a friendly face and it was a pleasure to have a chat with him whenever I saw him.

If he is watching down on us all, I just hope that he is enjoying the best United side for donkeys years, because if he was here he would be loving it

Same here I can't believe it's 5 years since Shred passed away. Great bloke and he was Mr Sheffield United. As ForgeBlade said it was always great to get the nod off of him, or in my case "Alreyt Banger" . So many brilliant stories to remember him by, I really hope he's looking down and witnessing the great football we're playing under Wilder.

RIP Shred

5 years !!!! God where’s that gone , didn’t know him personally but saw him at the matches , yes what a great same he didn’t see the Wilder years .
5 years jeeez !

Absolutely, it’s frightening! I would have guessed three years.

I didn’t know him, but I knew who he was and I saw him at half time at Rochdale on the Tuesday before he passed away, so at least his last Blades game was a win.

Only said this last week.

All those years DS spent going everywhere to miss out on the Wilder years.
We should remember, for real fans like Shred, supporting Sheffield United wasn't about success, but the occasion and the camaraderie.

Of course, he'd have loved what's happening right now, and it is a real shame he missed it.

Loved the man. Knew him for many years , we are both Intake lads and he was around the same age, we had many conversations about our beloved Blades on the 95 bus into town. I do believe that this is possibly the last photo taken with him in it , at Rochdale just before his untimely passing . RIP legend.

Yes, it was.

I would love to know if it was him across from us on the other platform at Brentford away one year. We were singing songs at each other in a friendly way and I made a joke about us lot having actually had our hair cut, which he laughed heartily at. Sounds like it could well have been him based on what everyone says.

When I used to see him at away games it were always “Alreet Young un”:) last time I saw him was at Preston away in the cup when De Girolama scored I’m thinking fucking hell I’m 47 and still young un😂😂😂

RIP Shred x

Seems old Shred was a jinx!!

Seriously though, a real shame when folk get to miss such great times having had to endure all the shit.

Similar to paying into a big pension for 50 years and never getting to see it.
Didn’t know him but seems he would have enjoyed the last 3 and a half seasons.
