Should we use an attacking midfildrr

If we could invest in January/summer, would you be happy to revert back to having an attacking midfielder rather than a flat 3?

at the minute I feel the balance of the midfield is right for the quality of players we have. We utilise Didzy to cover that attacking midfield role so to say by dropping in, but essentially we lose a forward in the process. As it stands we need Lunny and Fleck as they’re box to box and Norwood hasn’t got the physical attributes to be left isolated. Whenever a player is one on one with him he often gets turned or can’t keep up, which is where Fleck and Lunny come in to cover. For me personally, I’d like to look at finding a strong, mobile midfielder with passing range/quality similar to Norwood who could replace him. I think this then allows us to bring back an attacking midfielder and play with two out and out strikers in McBurnie and Moose who I reckon would strike a formidable partnership which also has great balance (target man and pace).

I’d like to see us go back in for Sander Berge. We had £25m bid accepted but he turned us down as he wanted to play Champions League with Genk. With how we’re playing now and Genk being 8th in the Belgian League, I think we could persuade him this time round. Also seen us linked with Eze from QPR who I think would be perfect to play just behind the strikers

He turned us down to play in the most prestigious competition in club football. That's a positive character trait imo, if he had turned us down based on wanting an extra 10k a week then I would agree.

They are. But we need mooar and always be looking to improve/add something different.

Freeman is good enough for that role if we need him.

What we need other than defensive cover, is more genuine pace up top to go alongside the Moose. If anything happens to Moose we have a distinct lack of pace up front, and pace frightens defenders.

You could see Watford become unsettled when Moose came on and that's because they knew how dangerous he was with his pace. Another lad like that would be very nice to have as an option.

They are in the same sense that a Wingback is classed as defender by some/ many.

The role they play is a major part of our success this season and more so as we have evolved.

Carragher mentioned it in his analysis, about how, particularly Lundstram supports Baldock and Bash down the right, Fleck down the left, creating overloads as the analysts like to call it. However, their presence in the box when they make late runs from deep are also another example of how the way the system we play really works.

Flecks chance against Watford on the weekend was a perfect example when you see how far he ran to get on the end of the cross

I don't think he said those words, it may have come from his club, who no doubt would benefit from him impressing in the Champions League, and then maybe attract an even bigger bid.

I'd like to see our old system tried at this level, with Freeman in the Duffy role. He was the best like-for-like replacement we could've hoped for and we just haven't used him.

We've had a few players like that in recent years (although I'm struggling to think of an example) where we just didn't use them to their full potential and then they moved on. Freeman is one I've wanted us to sign for years.
