We all know that Ched is out of contract at the end of this season and that many SUFC fans are still pretty mixed about him. So should we offer Ched a new deal?

YES WE SHOULD BECAUSE ...
- He's now happy and settled at the club and is scoring goals galore (albeit in League 1)
- We paid a lot of money out for Ched and it'd be a shame to lose him now as he looks to be reaching his potential
- We now play football that suits his style of play and he'd be much more suited to the Championship in this team

NO WE SHOULDN'T BECAUSE ...
- He might be scoring now but he's done next to nothing for the last two seasons
- We've spent (up to) £3m and (up to) £20,000 per week on him for three years - time to cut our losses
- He's not up to Championship football, he's found his level
- There are other issues outside his football that could embarrass SUFC in the future

I'd like SUFC to offer Ched some kind of deal now and try and keep him at the club. As a club, we've stuck with Ched over the last few months when he's been accused of some pretty horrendous things and given the money we've spent on him, some would suggest he still owes us the best of Ched Evans. He isn't going to get a £20,000 per week contract anywhere else at the end of the season and I think his form justifies a gamble or two from McCabe. At the end of the season, Ched could leave for nothing. However, we could offer him a good deal (say £10,000 a week) with a clause that if we don't get promotion, we'll give him the free transfer that he'd have got from being out of contract in the summer. If we go up, he stays with SUFC and looks to build on his League 1 form by firing us up the Championship table as well.

Thoughts?

didn't we only pay £800k for him? Sure I heard something on Radio Wendy the other night that anything more we may have paid in add ons are bygones

Nobody seems to know the answer to that. Hence, the (up to) bit! I heard the Football Heaven caller who suggested we wrote off £2.2m in the accounts which could be Ched. I'd say a lot of it was Ched but there might be clauses and add-ons from Williamson, Henderson, Ward etc in there too that we could write off after relegation. I reckon we've probably paid £1.5m (I'm just estimating though) and the rest was for other players.

Whatever it was - he's coming good and long may it last.

I say offer him a contract and get GayRonSmeg to negotiate his wages

Yes - if he wants to stay and we can afford his wages, then he's easily good enough for championship.... But let's get up first

Yes definately we need to keep him. That is if we get the chance. He maybe playing for the mean machine for the next few years. (although we all know he isnt guilty)

If he got sent down, then we'd have grounds to sack him anyway as he cannot fulfill his contract.

i say offer him a year extension with clauses of course!
The lads done really well with all this hanging over him!
Lets give him another year. If he gets sent down then we get to terminate his contract anyway.

Think it will be up to him and what other offers he gets

If he's found innocent, I think he'll almost certainly get better offers from other teams in terms of cash, but I think we can certainly offer him a better football experience than anyone else. Danny's got the team setup to play to his strengths. If we go up and offer him another deal and he has another 20 goal season, then he'll be playing in the premier league the season after, whether that's with us or another team.

If we don't go up this season, he'll be off.

As far as I'm concerned, we should leave it up to the SUFC Management.

They know all the facts.

I (along with everybody else) would like to see him stay.

Obviously on his goals and performances this season, we've got to offer him a contract (remember, he missed games early on and - according to some on here was worse that Quinn & Monty combined).

But, of course there's the big black cloud regarding his trial. Is it in March? And if so, will he miss games while he is on trial? I just hope he gets the same jury as Harry & Mandy.

It's possible we got Will Hoskins in case of the worst outcome.

Definitely offer him a contract, with of course a clause in it that says if he's found guilty then the contract is terminated.

Its great to see him on form but we are in league one which is his level, the tactics and team last season were awful but Ched is in a thriving team now.
Remember he was shite in the championship and will maybe be shite there again. But will be given a chance if he doesnt go down and we go up.

We play a totally different style now though
