How far back do you want us to go? Mid-table? Flirt with relegation? Fourth division? Non-league? Out of business altogether? Extinct? At least if we do go tits up we'll not get embarrassed by tin-pot clubs from backwater towns any more.

Is it evolution, revolution or extinction we want? Because at the moment the only way seems to be down. At least if we sink to the Meadowhall League level we might find a side that is bamboozled by our woeful 4-2-3-1.

As it happens. I am for giving him 5 more games. If we win a couple of them and start motoring away from the bottom 4, then fine. If we are still in the same pile of shit, I think it would then be patently obvious that Weir isn't up to the job and virtually anyone else would be better - for God's sake even the widely derided Morgan did better than him.

I really don't buy this "Weir has a plan, you need to have patience and all will come good". I would love to be proved wrong but, for me, all the evidence suggests he is just out of his depth.

And I really don't buy this sack the manager as soon as the going gets tough. It doesn't work. Or have you not noticed how many times we have changed manager in the last two years and how badly the club has performed in this period.

The jury is out on Weir, I accept this.

In the last 2 years the team has changed manager twice. The first time (Wilson's firing) was a grave error, given how well he was doing with a poor team and how badly Morgan and Weir have done with the same team, or half of the same team. Weir, on the other hand, is doing a terrible job.

Wilson's firing did not work because he has been replaced by 2 individuals who don't know what the hell they are doing.

I am not one for chopping and changing managers all the time, but sometimes, you just have to accept that appointing a manager was a huge error and get rid asap.

No half decent manager should have SUFC in a relegation battle in the 3rd division. If we are still in that position in mid October that must show that Weir is not up to the job.

I wouldn't say the jury was out on Weir. I would say the jury is on its way back to the Court with the foreman having a piece of paper with "guilty" written on it in his pocket. The only thing that can save him is if one jury member says "hang on, we forgot about that vital bit of evidence". I don't think that happens very often.

Weir could plead guilty due to diminished responsibility and beg the judge to give him another chance as long as he has psychiatric help ................................... COLIN Director of Football anyone ?

At the end of the day football is a results business, I know a new manager needs time and it wouldnt be so bad if you could see a little bit of improvment in the style he is trying to play. The 4-2-3-1 system is not working I dont think the players we currently have are good enough or know how to play this system. So what does he do ?
He has to find a system that gets the best out of the the players at his disposal, you can play passing football within a 4-4-2 or a 4-3-3.
I was watching goals on Sunday earlier Reid and Pulis were on they were saying Man City are playing the ball forward too slowly allowing the opposition to defend in numbers and all the best passing teams pass through the opposition at tempo not from side to side. This is a big problem for us.
Weir needs to re think or Im afraid he will have to go

I want to give him time but there is limit as to how far we can be allowed to fall. Personally I would review after the next three games, not just on the results as I think we will struggle to get much out of them, but on whether there is evidence that there are signs it will get better. Are we creating chances, are more players getting into the final third, is the tempo of our passing increasing. If yes give him more time and see if the results improve. However we cannot allow ourselves to get entrenched in the relegation zone because when the inevitable change comes after Christmas the type of manager we will need is a Blackwell / Warnock type to get us out of the mess. This is not what we need for the longer term. Therefore if we are not mid table by mid October better to change sooner rather than later. Either way we need to have a plan in place just in case.

Time for a return to good old S2 methods. They have served us so well in the past. Get Blackwell back. Enjoy yourselves. I'll spend Saturday's bringing my handicap down.

I despair.

Yet you don't despair at Weirs efforts so far ? ..................... weird

Agreee in princliple in what you are saying but he has already signed Baxter, Culivier, McGinty, Taylor, Johns, Coady, McGinn, Bunn,Brandy. He has already started again and got it wrong so far.

Really? Which of those should he not have signed? Should he not have tried his very best to bring in Clarke and Wilson before the deadline either?

mcGinty, Taylor, Coady, McGinn, Bunn and Johns all Appear to be very poor players or are so poor that they can't even get in this team.

The 2 recent signings might pan out but the rest are, to quote Deadbat, rubbish.

If Weir stays in charge we are going to be relegated.

Seriously, do you really not think a manager who has lost 5 of his first 7 games and has taken the second best supported team in the division into the relegation zone as failing abysmally thus far?

Unfortunately whilst I originally thought the appointment of Weir to be positive and he made the right soundbites the longer he is at the helm the worse it becomes !
He doesn't appear to have a clue as to his best starting x1 - how many players has he used in the few games we have played.
He has tried Porter, Taylor and Ironside up front - surely he must have seen what they all bring to the party at training!
How many times and in how many positions does he play Westlake before it dawns that he is not up to it!
We have only won one game against a bottom of the table side who happened to have a man sent off in the first half.

His after match interviews are purile and bland saying the same thing week in week out - now he appears to be blaming the players because they have not the technical ability to play the way he wants them to!

Sorry Mr Weir you do not appear up to the job, you clearly cannot motivate and you appear to have that stubborn streak of doing it your way despite being shown week in week out that it clearly isn't working and it's not getting better.

Carlisle sacked their manager on Monday and now they are above us in the table - time is running out Mr Weir - perhaps Walter Smith as Director of Football is going to be your only saviour because it's becoming very clear that in a results driven business you cannot produce the results!!

That suggests you think Weir is the only man who can get us playing decent football. We don't have to go back to any type of football just because Weir is sacked. What if Weir never gets us playing decent football, crap football or any type of winning football? What if he is never going to be a good manager, how long dare we stick with him?

I think it's far too early to judge. We are a couple of strikers and a good wide player away from a very good team at this level. Lets see where we are at the end of January. Alternatively let's revert to non-football with Dinosaur Dave and Quickfix, shall we? That'll do the trick. Let the rest of the world have colour tv and walkie-talkies. We'll stick with caves and clubs.

It's the Bladesfans' Way.

Yes, heaven forbid that we should go back to the awful days of Blackwell, Warnock and Bassett when we were in the top division or challenging for promotion to that division. It's much better struggling in the 3rd division, just as long as we don't practice "hoof" eh?

I don't know if all this "hoof" nonsense is tongue in cheek with you, but if it isn't, you're a bit myopic for such an intelligent chap.

Who's Quickfix?

Is this the type of football you have wanted to see all this time?

I've already said. Lets see where we are at the end of January.

If we carry on as we have been, in January we will be comfortably 24th by some distance. Will you countenance Weir's sacking then? Or should we give him the full three years he signed his name to?

Certainly not. However, you have to learn 'Chopsticks' and 'Silent Night' before you can play Rachmaninov's 3rd Piano Concerto.

Too many of us want to bash the keys like Les Dawson. It's the Bladesfans' Sonata.

Yes, but while learning the piano you don't have someone playing a loud drum solo at you, or a cartoon mouse trying to slam the lid down on your fingers.

Yes, I would, but I'm confident he will turn us round by then.

Why don't we attach just a little blame to some of the useless numpties we have masquerading as footballers?

Really? Which of those should he not have signed? Should he not have tried his very best to bring in Clarke and Wilson before the deadline either?
He has got it wrong as he has signed his own players and he has not produced any kind of team that would appear capable of winning a game(when not playing against 10 men). He has brought in and selected the players who believes he can plan his style . He has either signed the wrong players for his style of play or he has got it wrong in terms of team selection and tactics
