I think this "Premiership Experience" thing is overrated.
What actually happens to them when they get this "Premiership Experience"? Does it change them in some way and make them a different type of footballer with much greater ability than before?
I'm not necessarily looking for answers to these questions - I'm just making a point...all this talk about "Premiership Experience" like it's some kind of gift from God that bestows amazing qualities upon a player....it's nonsense imo. What matters most is ability and effort. It doesn't matter a jot whether a player has played in the Premiership before. That doesn't make them good. What makes them good is their natural ability and willingness to work hard.
Look at young Brooksy last season. Jesus, he hardly had any Championship experience, never mind Premiership experience when he joined them. But the lad has bags of natural talent and he was a real shining star in the Prem for Bournemouth last season.
I can see that exposing a player to the best quality football players in the world, should, over time, help them to develop further, as they'll need to adapt to be able to compete. But that doesn't mean that you can't be effective until you'e got that experience. And it doesn't necessarily mean that everyone who has that experience is at an advantage over those that haven't.
I just think it's getting a bit tiring now, folks talking about us not having many players with "Premiership Experience". Give me good, talented, young players, who are hungry for success and have shown good at Championship level - and I'll show you the next big money players in the Prem - because that's what they are capable of being.
