I'm working on Sheffield's 2018 world cup bid, Sheffield has put together a bid team and are in the process of presenting information to the FA. One thing that we are encouraging people to do is to go on to the England 2018 bid site and register their support for their home city.

Sheffield is competing against 14 other cities for the right to host world cup games and the FA take into consideration how many votes Sheffield gets on its site before making a final decision about which cities are going to host the world cup.

I'm sure you would all love to see world cup football being played in Sheffield

It wouldn't let me do it, said there was a problem. Anyone else not been able to send?

I hope the city of Sheffield get it, even though it would be the group consisting of Iraq, Somalia, Bosnia and The Moon.

I'd also love United to get it but I hate to say that if the pigs do get investment and upgrade the swamp the fact that they have tram links to the centre and a massive park next to the ground will get them the vote.

Fan parks are a very very important part of hosting a world cup and I can't for the life of me think where the Blades organising people are planning to set one up that would be big enough.

See where you are coming from BUT, we are close to the main Train Station, bus station and the parkway brings in the motorway traffic.
There are plenty of places for fans to eat and drink in the city centre, not many around the Sty. IMO loads of places to put up screens in town as well such as the peace garden or outside the city hall and Norfolk Park isn't far away at all.

I am sure that the organisers would look at getting people away from residential areas where possible. I reality both ground would probably get games wouldn't they?

I don't really think this is going to be true.

Obviously it is not just how many votes Sheffield gets that will decide whether we are chosen as a host city. Other thing such as standard of stadia, transport systems, fan park sites, environmental strategies will have a major bearing on the FA's decision. However the FA have told us that they will consider how many votes the candidate host cities get, in that case Sheffield is aiming to get 200,000 votes before the final bid is submitted in November.

So spread the word as much as you can!

The FA have blocked the link so us northern scum don't get a look in. I blame Brooking (cue evil laugh and Mr Burns style eeeeexcellent)
