This Sunday a year ago we absolutely battered Chessie 4-1 live on the nation's tv screens (ok provided you'd got Sky) with the kind of performance we've become accustomed too in the period since.

Of course we were told by the pigs that we were in a pub league and a 4-1 demolition at our local neighbours meant nothing ... wait til you move up to the la Liga Championship that's when you'll get found out.

Well one year on, we've turned up at your place, mauled you 4-2 on your own spot (the day the bouncing died) and we're sitting quite nicely in second spot. Okay, it's only November and it could still all go tits up, but what a f***ing year to be a Blade :) and at the same time up yours porky f***ing W*****day

One down to Chesterfield and Ched playing well I feared the worst, but what a second half it was. Leon Clarke scored a long range effort to prove his doubters wrong that he was past it. We had recently beaten Port Vale 4-0 and hit six past Leyton Orient and I was beginning to think that maybe it was our year.

We made a statement that day on TV and we continued to make statements at various times during that season - Port Vale and MK Dons (both away) to name just two.

We continue to make statements this season too - pigs and Leeds (both away) to name two again, but there are more this season, yet it seems no one really wants to take us seriously - even now, as shown by the recent journalistic comments about us and our rivals.

Well, they had better wake up and smell the coffee pretty soon - we could be over the hill and gone by the turn of the year, just like in 05/06.

But I like that lack of acclaim and I think it plays right into our hands.

I’ve lost count of the number of opposition managers who have said, in their post match interviews, ‘We had an off day and just couldn’t get our usual passing game going’
It’s typical ‘big time’ arrogance not to acknowledge they were beaten by our energetic pressing and slick passing style, but let them believe their own hype, because that way, we’ll do it again to them in the reverse fixture.

Don’t worry, we’ll get all the plaudits and praise, when we go up and personally, I’m more than happy to wait intil then ;)

I want us to appear on the radars of all the other Championship teams only on the last day of the season so they all say wtf did they come from + we quietly point out we've been there all along but no one believed we could maintain our run.

Yeah, take that Wednesday you smelly pigs!

Was that the first game we sang that song last season? Certainly was the game where i started to believe that promotion was a real possibility.

We ripped Chesterfield apart in that second half

It won't make any difference as the "experts" will say there is always a Huddersfield or a Burnley or a Swansea who go up as a surprise package. If you are waiting for SUFC to be awarded some credit you are going to be waiting an awful long time.

In that time I can only describe my general feeling as "smug" :)

I thought that chant was a little premature last season. So to see the team go on to vindicate it in the way they have is incredible.

I thought that too. I also thought it was embarrassing. Luckily, we no longer have to sing it.

Re: "the day the bouncing died":-

Does anybody know if this is actually the case? Do they not do their stupid bouncing song any more?
It would be great if we've taken it away from them as it's one of the few songs they actually sing/sang.
Even better if they're still doing it but all the time they're having trauma flashbacks to Duffy twisting this way and that.
A win-win situation really.

You cannot have seen them against Weeds. Few of them were bouncing when they went 3-0 up.

My company have a box at Villa Park and unfortunately last week I had to take some of my customers there (it killed me missing the mighty blades). And I can confirm the bouncing was in full flow but only after they were 2-0 up.

They did actually play well last weeek but Villa were terrible and if they play anything like that in a few weeks we will wipe the floor with them. Sadly I cannot see how they can play that bad again. What was quite amusing was when we were losing to Hull they kept telling me how they were cutting the points gap down and the bubble had burst. Imagine my pleasure informing them of our every goal! When we went 2-1 up I jumped up much to the amusement of everyone around me.

I’ll always remember when
John Fleck scored one, and Clarke and then
Duffy put away the third
The day...the boouncing died

And so we’re singing....
Bye bye to bouncing at the sty
Bye bye to bouncing at the sty
Bye bye to bouncing at the sty
The day....the bouncing died.

Where’s me coat?

and, as ever with the pigs, it's not original. West Brom started it.

That's a lie!

Wednesday must have started it because somebody said so on NKT.
And 'Hi ho Sheffield Wednesday' (not Wolves)
and 'We will fight..' (not us or the true originators, Spurs)
and having the first 'Kop' in 1914 (before Arsenal 1904, Liverpool 1906 etc etc etc).

Most of our current football culture is down to Wednesday and that's a fact!
