I was being mercenary, and in need of a good bit of schadenfreude, I thought I'd see if there was any betting on Portsmouth being liquidated by the close of play tomorrow For the record, my opening show would be 'Extant - 1/8F, Liquidated - 3/1', in a two-runner race which is an overround of 112.5%, which admittedly is a bit skinny.

Anyway, seeing as a few of us like a flutter every now and then, I also noticed that there are a few bets being offered on United's specific fortunes, so I thought I'd share, and I'll type the top of the market up for the clickless.

Creswell looks decent at 11/4 to be top scorer, but I hate this type of bet in reality. Too long to wait for your returns.

Related contingency, that bet wouldn't be allowed. Though I'd imagine you're not really planning on placing it.

I was actually wondering about the related contingency aspect. I reckon it would be deemed as such, but I'm not convinced that is 'actually' related. After all, Monty's the favourite for Player Of The Year, and he's hardly known for his scoring ability .....

I agree about not particularly liking this from a pure betting point of view, but not for waiting to collect. There are just too many variables which can bugger up the selection. It is interesting to look at though. For me Simonsen for POTY, and Cresswell for top scorer.

If anyone scores 25 goals, they will win POTY. It would take something gargantuan to prevent it.

Probably not, but my point was that players like Morgan and Monty have won the POTY without being anywhere near the top scorer. We've had top scorers who have scored fewer than ten goals as well in the past. Jostein Flo in 1993/4 springs to mind. I reckon you're right and they wouldn't take the double, but I don't think it's really related.

It's only 29/1. If they did accept the bet (which I agree, I doubt they would), given how weak the market would be on this, I'll bet they wouldn't stand it to much.
