In the Blackburn game, the tackle at 42:50 by (I think) Andy Barnsley, would, these days be a straight red and penalty. Just got an indirect free kick given against us.

I was at the 3-3 draw when Wigley scored the great goal at the Lane End
One of the best goals I saw at The Lane .. he was a bit of enigma Wigley either fantastic or you needed a pair of binoculars to know he was on the pitch . Remember him crossing for Withe to head in & both celebrated in front of the Kop as they’d had some stick , think we’d loaned them out to Brum & inexplicably let them play against us ? If my memory is serving me right ??

Wigley was a permanent transfer, Withe was on loan to them and scored twice against us in October 1987 and the keeper for us , Roger Hansbury, was on loan from Birmingham! Chairman Reg Brealey was furious with manager Billy McEwan for allowing this to happen.

Hansbury broke his leg at WBA and we never saw him again.

We had 5 keepers that year, Segars was the best, we should have kept him.

Some reyt goals by Beagrie 30 and 49 mins in. Dempsey's at 33 mins not bad either.
Just watched the video, I was at the match and persuaded a friend to come to the match after a long absence. Told him to watch Beagrie!

Watching the footage it made me chuckle when Beagrie's tricks were sending the defenders AND the cameraman the wrong way!

Fun fact. If Withe hadn't scored those goals and the game had ended 0-0, United would have stayed up and Birmingham would have gone down.
