It was a goal alright but he did very little thereafter in a team that was very mediocre and as per typical United of the time we were skint again

The most interesting is the attendances highest in the country at anfield but still only 38,000 and Sunderland around 14, Bournemouth 2,000 etc
I know it's close to BDTBL but why does that famous LGBT wattering hole merit a mention in an SUFC retrospective? Some reyt goals by Beagrie 30 and 49 mins in. Dempsey's at 33 mins not bad either.
One of the best goals I saw at The Lane .. he was a bit of enigma Wigley either fantastic or you needed a pair of binoculars to know he was on the pitch . Remember him crossing for Withe to head in & both celebrated in front of the Kop as they’d had some stick , think we’d loaned them out to Brum & inexplicably let them play against us ? If my memory is serving me right ??I was at the 3-3 draw when Wigley scored the great goal at the Lane End
Wigley was a permanent transfer, Withe was on loan to them and scored twice against us in October 1987 and the keeper for us , Roger Hansbury, was on loan from Birmingham! Chairman Reg Brealey was furious with manager Billy McEwan for allowing this to happen. One of the best goals I saw at The Lane .. he was a bit of enigma Wigley either fantastic or you needed a pair of binoculars to know he was on the pitch . Hans Segars bloody hell yes .. I’d forgot about him playing for us ! ..there’s a name that would haunt us a year or two laterHansbury broke his leg at WBA and we never saw him again.
We had 5 keepers that year, Segars was the best, we should have kept him.
Yes, August 1986. Edwards was playing for L**ds. Highlights of match were shown on YTV in next day
Just watched the video, I was at the match and persuaded a friend to come to the match after a long absence. Told him to watch Beagrie! Some reyt goals by Beagrie 30 and 49 mins in. Dempsey's at 33 mins not bad either.
Fun fact. If Withe hadn't scored those goals and the game had ended 0-0, United would have stayed up and Birmingham would have gone down.Wigley was a permanent transfer, Withe was on loan to them and scored twice against us in October 1987 and the keeper for us , Roger Hansbury, was on loan from Birmingham!
