I enjoyed 84/85 even though we struggled. I was 14 and it was the first time we had been in Div 2 since I was 9 so it seemed almost glamorous. Was good to have decent away followings at the Lane. Budgie, Dennis Mortimer and Mel Eves all steadied the ship. I remember our fans shouting "SCAB! SCAB!" when Notts County ran out at the height of the miners strike. I also remember the unreal atmosphere loaded with tension when we beat L**ds in March.

That's the season after and that was my first away first team game with the Blades.

Although I had been taken to Skegness away where we dished out a good fucking hiding - so as an 8 year old my tainted view was that we thrashed teams away from home ...

Was in the final year at Brook school in 84/85, so was 15/16 years old, and went to all games (except Portsmouth away on Tuesday night). Great time going to away games with mates.

You’ll probably remember Mr Gallagher, mr footit and Nigel Borham then. Oh and Mr Darwin lol

Perhaps you saw Dane bossing the corridors too?!
