So our 'highlights' that season were losing to Barnsley and Wigan and drawing with Boston!

Why did our fans like Morris he only scored pens :-/

Why were Wigan cunts invading pitch?

Why were crowds so low we fucking won loads at home?

Why did watching them highlights remind me so much of last season???

went to all 3 of them games, barnsley had some good players back then mccarthy glavin and banks the wigan game iam sure shred walked round the pitch and up to porterfield or was that later we played palace on a tues nightand iam pretty sure that is the only time we got under 70000

Home gates for league games under 7,000 since the War:

1986-7 6,982 v Plymouth (won 2-1)
1986-7 6,647 v Palace (won 1-0)
1987-8 6,977 v Reading (won 4-1)

Bit of both I think. Attendances generally were pretty low at this time, the hooligan thing was at it's height and we'd signed Curran which pissed off plenty of Blades. Also Porterfield probably changed a winning team a bit too much, had too many options and played some strange formations to accommodate everyone.
The signing of Curren is still the 2nd worst day of my life. The first being when he scored on December 26th 1979 and celebrated on his knees in front of me. Cunt

I could look at pages like this for hours (not withstanding our result).

That late winner for Luton to keep them up and send Man City down…
Rotherham not quite doing enough against Dirty Leeds…
1,668 at Darlington for a local derby…
Marwood scoring for Hull…
Stuart McCall on the scoresheet…
James Alexander Gordon…
Jumpers for goalposts etc.

I was at all 3
Same here.

I turned 21 in 83 and used to go to the matches on auto pilot. With all the mates from the local, having a few beers on London Road before the match and not remembering too much about the game as they all now seem to blend into one.

The signing of Curran was a low point for me from SUFC, I hated the piggy bastard - ever since I was sat in the North stand at Hillsboro on Boxing Day 79.

Man Utd were 2-1 up against Notts County with two minutes left but ended up losing 3-2. Bet that was a good match. Thought that Warnock might have been in charge of Notts County at the time - but he took over in 1989. He was managing Burton in 1983.

I'm another who used to enjoy seeing the attendances along with the results.
