If COH managed to purchase Wednesday and merge the two clubs, would you go to games?

Well there is sense in not doing so, if sharing a stadium means leaving BDTBL.

Also you seem quite preoccupied with the idea of us having to be successful for supporting a team to be worth it.

I’m not willing to give up 130+ years of history for a shiny new stadium and a few more quid in the coffers.
Sheffield has 2 clubs and should remain that way..

It would be a bigger club if the two joined but in reality what would happen is you'd get two phoneix clubs started as AFC Sheffield United and the Wednesday etc and you'd lose a lot of the fans to that.

Personally I'd never want a merger. Being better than Wednesday and vice versa gives for them no doubt gives me a bigger kick than winning the odd trophy because let's be reyt, look at other one team clubs like Leeds; since the PL they're no longer winning owt because it's no longer just the size of the club it's how rich your owners are and even then no success is guaranteed. Newcastle are another who've won very little. So it's not guaranteed and we can still win things as we are but we all know it's unlikely. I couldn't stand having to be like Wednesday because over time the new club with their fan base would embrace the we're massive mentality even more than they do now!

We'd be arguing with Leeds fans who are more massive. Frankly, I'd rather die. 😉

I sincerely hope this is just a baseless rumour. There's not a snowballs chance in hell that either set of fans would swallow this.

COH need to address this quickly. It's a fucking outrage.

Article written by Rob Staton, doesn’t say too much but does say according to his contacts COH did speak to the administrators.

“I've done a bit of digging and my understanding is there's truth to the original report of contact being made, although it's unclear precisely what the motivations were.”

Seeing as he refers to little interaction from COH his “digging” pretty much will involve Begbies. Who, in this particular case look to be taking a less than professional outlook. Any COH contact would clearly be with the administrators so it’s not a huge leap of faith to think any leak is at their end. And we know Private Pyle can be pretty loquacious. Suddenly they have declined to comment.

Agent Dejphon will no doubt be following this closely.

There is nothing to say it was anymore than if the club gets liquidated, we (COH) will/interested in buying the assets

Big Hat Ralph’s digging didn’t get him far into the actual reason. It’s not a great look for COH if you believe the conspiracy theorists and its a deflection from the mauling they got on Sunday. He’s a hurtin’ gutted and clearly got the mardies on.

Wonder why he’s not asking why a club in administration owing millions and a certainty for relegation is spending money on players to the possible detriment of creditors?

At the very least we should build and share a stadium - there's no sense in not doing so - even the SCC ought to be able to see that.

There is sense in that we would be paying (presumably) half the cost to move from a stadium that is perfectly adequate for our current needs, is in a reasonable state of repair, and has enough land for us to expand if we wanted to, into a soulless bowl that we have to share with them lot.

Those are just the reasons we shouldn`t leave BDTBL.

Then, look at the other side - we'd be giving a huge leg up to our direct rivals, who would also pay half the cost to move from a stadium that is a complete shit tip, is built on a flood plain. That stadium is currently a millstone around their neck. Let it drag them down...

Why give them (or help give them) a get out of jail free card?

Also, who is paying for this swanky new stadium?

Your legs must fit into the Kop seats without injury and perhaps you bring your own beverage for Halftime 🤣

Crikey , 130 years !
That puts me in the shade with only 57 years attendance.

But seriously , I recognise it's an emotive subject and there are going to be differing views , hopes & fears.
And there's unlikely to be a truly democratic way of resolving it.

We'll each have to see what the owners want to do and then each make up our own minds on whether it's exciting or so unpalatable that we withdraw support.

That's a fair point - until the pigs new owner is in place and run the club for long enough to become "a financial equal" , there'd be no fair basis for a ground share deal.

Total nonsense in my opinion. For a start, our supporters -Bladefans dont want this-I am sure the wendyites dont want the clubs to merge. We are a two-club city.
I would never go and watch besides. Sheffield council would not want to pay for a new Stadium anyway. non-starter and forever will be. All my family, except for a couple of black sheep, are all Blades. way back to the nineteenth century. They would never want our beloved Sheffield United to merge with the Wendys. It ain't going to happen.

A merger will probably happen at some point in the future as football becomes ever more globalised.
Sheffield City would be able to compete at a high level and eventually the love of tradition will probably lose out to the impact of decades of grinding underachievement.

Well, if true, I'd much prefer the owners to cough it and say they did make an approach, because of reason xxx

Putting out a half ar*ed, substance free statement was all a bit pointless.

Not a great look for me

Apparently not in Sheffield where we revel in our glorious past (but fail to capitalise upon it) and see any progress as fraught with danger.
Future fortune favours the bold.
Cast your eyes upon Manchester & Liverpool and tell me why the City of my birth is not even on the football map.

It’s bollocks. A complete none starter. I’d support Sheffield FC instead.

How about Sheffield FC absorbing United and the Pigs? "Oldest club in the world" schtick then leveraged to the fullest. The divide between pigs and Blades joining the "new" enterprise is then bridged somewhat by neither absorbing the other but playing behind another identity . Pie in the sky but sit seems more workable. Football is based on short termism so I doubt a merger is ever a realistic proposition.
