It's an interesting one, the article says talks have stalled, but every rumour I hear about Sheffield FC seems to suggest things aren't great behind the scenes, it's tough to understand why an offer of potential investment at these levels would be turned away.

But I get the impression that both Sheffield and Hallam are fundamentally against becoming professional football clubs, so with that kind of ethos, purists doing it for the love of the game rejecting the modern mess that turns clubs into businesses, the worry from the current owners is that the DNA of the club would be put at risk by 'selling out' to billionaire investors.

The club is currently owned by the same person who owns Sheffield Eagles. He is based in Jersey. There was a big upheaval just before the start of the season.

Both clubs remained staunchly amateur in the Victorian era. I believe it is because they didn't want the plebs joining. It is doubtful whether us or the pigs would exist if these two had chosen to turn pro.
