Shea Charles has been recalled by Southampton and will not see out the season with Sheffield Wednesday.
Owls chairman Dejphon Chansiri dropped the bombshell news at the very end of a fan forum that stretched over five hours, wandering back into the room having received a phone call. The Star revealed earlier this week that the recall clause held by parent club Southampton ended today - suggesting Wednesday were informed of their decision late in the day.
Chansiri had earlier in the evening expressed a confidence key man Charles would stay on at S6. “Let’s see what we can do,” he said. Put to him by a fan that without Charles the club will struggle to maintain their tilt at the play-offs, the Wednesday chairman replied: “In football it is not about individual players, it is about the team. The Northern Ireland international played 24 matches across all competitions for Wednesday, scoring once and adding four assists. The news will come as a hammer blow to the Owls, who sit in 10th place, three points short of the top six.

He's been immense for them. A deal for Choudhury isn't done as he was in Leicester squad last night. So I say we leave that be and go in for this lad who fits the profile we need, and as a bonus, would make the piggies cry.

Aside from the obvious one upmanship on that lot, he's been excellent for Wednesday this season. His defensive stats standout (second highest in the league for tackles / interceptions) and he can play a bit too.

I'm not sure what Southampton's intentions with him are but given he's settled up in Sheffield, we're in the market for a DM and going for promotion (which they will be next season) it could be a deal that makes a lot of sense.
It would prepare him perfectly for next season.

We must be on the blower to Southampton most days re: BBD, so I'd be surprised if we don't make a cheeky enquiry so all eggs aren't in the Choudhury basket.
Presumably the owners would prefer a straight loan (Charles), than anything with an obligation attached (Choudhury).
