No, the agent relationship (they both share the same agent as i understand) isn't the ace. Below is just opinion and not giving anything away. Thanks for the update Swiss. I assume this alludes to the agent being a friend of CW (no need to answer that)
As a 'guesstimate', how likely percentage wise are we to get Charles? Just your gut feeling?
He also said this on Tuesday when it was still up in the air
Not saying he won't re-sign for them (I think he will) but I'm fairly confident he's a shit-stirrer
I think it's fine to say that we're in for someone decent without betraying confidences - it shows that behind the scenes we're grafting on building a better squad.Fair enough.
To be honest I’ve never claimed to be ITK and have only confirmed what I’ve seen has been talked about publicly by Wilder - he’s talked about being in for Cannon, Charles, and Choudhury. The other alternative is when the other party has talked about coming to us, Kenny or Cannon offer being accepted.
Since it’s not enough, I’ll leave it then. Sounds like decent feedback. I thought giving a little bit was better since it’s a forum where we all contribute a bit.
The line i've tried to stick to for both the takeover and the JTW is that if its in the public domain then i'll generally back up whats been said. Sometimes i've felt i can give a little more and sometimes it's been very cryptic. I'm certainly not going to start rumours from what i hear, even if it's very positive news. It'll come out soon enough anyway.I think it's fine to say that we're in for someone decent without betraying confidences - it shows that behind the scenes we're grafting on building a better squad.
Excellent summary. If I recall correct Wilder said 2 perm and 3 loans. Not sure if BBD loan with option is classed as loan or perm (potential perm). But assuming it’s classed as loan we can expect 1 more perm and I’d assume it’s Jjk.No, the agent relationship (they both share the same agent as i understand) isn't the ace. Below is just opinion and not giving anything away.
I don't think that the agent quite becomes a factor for the player with loans, again theres perhaps others more knowledgable than me, but the parent club, in this case Southampton, can basically decide where they want to place their player depending on who enquires.
Wednesday, as is public knowledge, have increased their bid, whether it's enough it isn't clear and the fact that there is another party interested in Charles, in this case, SUFC, it allows Southampton to pick where they send him. It also sends up the amount that Southampton want for his loan at Wednesday.
The player will have his desire for where he wants to go, but Southampton will have their preference for where they place him and they, not the player have the final say.
I won't look at percentages, but if we really want him, then i think financially we're far better placed to get him than Wednesday are, that is fairly obvious. Whether he's the top choice for everyone at the club is another point. He would be match fit and ready to go straight in as a starter next game (after Hull as we'll have missed the deadline for today.
Wilder alluded to it yesterday in his presser that BBD will need some games to get up to speed, Cannon is coming off the back of a good run with Stoke, so is effectively ready. So there is some element of bringing players in that are ready to hit the ground running since we have Souza, Seriki, JRS and Campbell getting up to speed. RND isn't close to being match ready, Burrows, Peck, O'Hare and Gilchrist have played a lot of game recently, Hamer is out for 2. Brooks has been struggling with illness. Tom Davies and Moore both out and perhaps could be back soon or back in a month...
So it's worth reading a bit into this that we could have had bids in for players who've not had much game time and all of a sudden Shea Charles is available with Southampton wanting him to go back out somewhere, he's match fit in a position we don't have much fit cover and with players who've worked their socks off recently. It makes sense to get him ASAP as it also made sense to get Cannon in for tonight. Do Tommy Doyle (only seen him rumoured) or Choudhury make as much sense for now since they've not played as much football this season.
I guess it will come down to whether Charles fits with us, from a personality and mindset side of things, we know he's technically and physically there, so the last aspect is whether he will be financially right... If we get the yes on the finances and we're happy with his personality, then whilst in the past he might not have been right for the start of the season, he might be just right for now and to finish the season.
Personally, i'd take Charles or Doyle if he was available.
And in many ways it probably seems that way. If they have met the Southampton figure financially then it's a reasonable assumption... But it isn't just a straight deal between Wednesday and Southampton when there is another club, ourselves also in the mix... and perhaps other clubs too.On Tuesday he said it was the players preference to stay there
Today he’s said he’s actually staying.
Let’s see, they all reckon it’s done and dusted
You are right on that, but I'm sure he also said on Tuesday he was definitely staying as well. Admittedly could be wrong. On Tuesday he said it was the players preference to stay there

He did say that Sausage Rohl didn't want to join Southampton. I'm not sure how bang on that was.The one they seem to thing is bang on usually is called thebizzle - it’s this guy who’s telling them it’s done and dusted.
Fantastic reply thanks mate. A proper response with detailed analysisNo, the agent relationship (they both share the same agent as i understand) isn't the ace. Below is just opinion and not giving anything away.

Same poster had said Rohl was staying at Wednesday early in the speculation of him going Southampton. What followed was days of speculation that he'd fallen out with Chansiri so it doesnt seem to have been as clear as they implied. I'm not convinced they are reliable.
But as said, I think Charles will go back to Wednesday or stay at Southampton. We'll find out soon anyway.

Don't worry, if it's not Charles, a deal will be done. The Mirror are reporting a deal to go back to the snort beasts has been agreed.
On to the next target, seems to have gone quiet on the midfielder front. We desperately need one in soon.
On a side track, what if Sunderland sold Bellingham late in the window. They'd have the money but wouldn't have someone up to speed for the run inLooking at Doyle and Charles (and putting aside the pissing off of the pigs) my preference would be SC.
He has the physicality that we need, covers a lot of ground,he is a great presser and has a good vision for threading passes through the lines.
He also can do the rough stuff and puts his foot in.
when needed.
Reminds me of Jobe Bellingham.
Doyle is a talented lad and maybe 2nd choice for me anyhow
Hopefully soon . I don't want to see Burrows as a centre midfielder very oftenDon't worry, if it's not Charles, a deal will be done.

I think you are underestimating CW if you believe he would put to one side realistic midfield targets just to rile SWFC.Jokes aside, and how “hilarious” it is pigs may have had to pay more to keep same player.
A big if granted as transfer aren’t simple. But If we’ve put signing a midfielder on hold, to try and nab Charles and not landed him - meaning we’ve missed getting them in for Norwich, Swansea and Hull tonight (possibly impacting result?) then it’s piss poor.
We’re running peck into the ground, we’ve over played Davies and Souza injured, with Hamer suspended as well.
Need a body in ASAFP.
Even worse if we’ve done it for jokes as some suggest….
Think Charles is almost certain to go back to TRB as Southampton have had Chansuris pants downThink Doyle has more ability on the ball…..where as Charles is better off the ball.
Doyle has a history is being a good player….so we know he’ll perform really well in the Championship.
Charles has no history…..he’s been good this season….but how do we know it’s not a 1 season wonder and next season he’s average.
However my view is that Wilder will have learnt so much from last season and should know why we failed and exactly what’s needed.
If we promoted then next season we’ll have games where we don’t have much of the ball.
So it’s no good having James McAtee types…..instead we need a Nick Montgomery type but with more physicality and ability.
Someone who can help protect the defence….in fact in the PL I think defensive midfielder is one of the most important positions.
However the defensive midfielder needs to be big, strong and athletic. It’s a risk but from what I’ve seen, Charles fits the bill.
Wouldn’t surprise me if we’re negotiating a loan with an option to buy (like the BBD deal).
And it’s a good point by Swiss…Doyle and Choudhury have hardly played this season, so need getting up to speed.
Where as we know Charles (like Cannon) is match fit, in good form, so can instantly play.

And the “Ace” is? Either Southampton owe us money or we’ve agreed to take Ramsdale back as a reserve keeper to sweeten the deal.
I think you are underestimating CW if you believe he would put to one side realistic midfield targets just to rile SWFC.
Agree….that’s just an added bonus…..Wilder will only loan or buy players for the benefit of the club and we do need a defensive midfielder
We are so close to finishing top 2….every signing in this window could be the difference between finishing 2nd or 3rd.
Besides SWFC are a mid table side, at best, so it doesn’t matter if Charles is there or not
They have no realistic chance of reaching the play-offs, their season is effectively over, no promotion or relegation involvement.
Yet I still feel we have a gapping hole in CB/DMF fitness and coverWe are so close to finishing top 2….every signing in this window could be the difference between finishing 2nd or 3rd.
Soon as he said his preference was to go back to them, this should have died a death.
I can see where you are coming from Weasel, but with him making his preference clear, if he had ended up at Lane, I wouldn' t have been comfortable with that.Disagree. Provided that we are actively looking at other alternatives and seeing if we can get better anyway, then keep the pressure up on this one and see what lands. If we get him then fine, if we don't then no big deal but we have made the blue and white shite pay over the odds just to get him back. Win win as far as I'm concerned.
