According to the Middlesborough gazette:- "MIDFIELDER Mohamed Shawky turned down a move to Sheffield United shortly before the transfer deadline, Boro have revealed. The Blades wanted to take Boro’s Egyptian international on a permanent deal, but Shawky wanted to stay on Teesside.
Gareth Southgate said: “Mohamed had the opportunity to go to Sheffield, but turned it down.” Shawky has already revealed in the Egyptian media that he turned down several offers during the summer, but will be ready to move on in January."
He seems to have upset a few of the Boro fans with something he said. Sounds like a bit of a trouble-maker maybe. Hopefully KB won't resurrect his interest in January.
