Sharp and Didzy upfront

It’s beginning to annoy me how pundits, commentators and some fans are still blaming the strikers. It is the MIDFIELD that is the reason for our downfall. It’s Norwood and Berge dropping deep to recieve ball so our non existent midfield has no transition into attack and then all Egan does is just hoof it upfront which is really starting to annoy me aswell

I'd much rather see the "key passes" and "passes in final third" stats for the midfielders, as that would offer a huge explanation for the awful striker stats.

The thoroughbred midfield we have enjoyed for so long appears to have developed Herpes !!

They were either offside or missed the target 39 times last time in Champ 😀.

Face it, Slav and his staff have evaluated the front players. Moose looked to have the main CF position stitched up this season. Needing to earn a contract (somewhere) probably forced him to wake the fuck up !

Alas……..

The best of what’s left IS Bill n Dids. Not ideal but tis what it is.

Jebbo is an interesting one but needs games, which he won’t necessarily get here atm. A loan suits all here.

The others are flops. Outright flops. Expensive ones an all 😡.

Rhian might come good, but has to do it soon.

McB won’t. Will be exit stage right by Jan at latest. Slav knows 👀👍.

That was 3 seasons ago mate, things have changed the past is the past.
 
Didn't think it was the strikers that have been the problem in any of our issues currently. McGoldrick should have scored though.

The issue is entirely stemming from developing the play from the back into goal scoring chances through the midfield.

So far we are playing out from the GK, the defence eventually get the ball to halfway usually recycle possession, into midfield who are still only around halfway line and back to defence. Sometimes a full back is getting a bit further foward or we play in a striker into the channels but it's a bit rare. Midfield are not in the positions to offer enough options up, no one is breaking lines currently. Last night we couldn't break their press and started to play long in which they were winning every ball and coming straight back at us....

All of our strikers can be effective and score at this level. (Burke isn't gonna get many though!) But I don't feel like any of our strikers can play in a 3 up top without more width or play coming from either midfield/wingers or wingbacks. Bar McGoldrick none of them tend to make many chances for themselves or for others as such without help in the way of build up play.

At the minute we are desperate for a few in to help SJ work this system if this is what he wants. To play with this squad without as many coming in you have to play 352 or 343 and even then we need some new signings.
To change systems we need a few wingers, or attacking and defensive midfielders different to what we currently have. We could even look at getting a different type of striker but this would mean shipping some out really and this causes a problem as to who you ship out and will you get the money you want....

With a team struggling so badly to create anything, having those 2 together up front is probably the hardest combination to get things going.

Sharp shouldn't be near the first XI any longer realistically. And Didzy badly needs a rest. He starting to look like Ipswich version of himself.

Yes our midfield badly needs upgrading but those two upfront are not making things any easier.

It depends on the opposition and service, last night was never going to work. It was bizarre.

They may well be

My point is that they are, as things stand, less Shot as you describe it than ANY of the alternatives.

On top of which they are the only proven pairing at this level.

Maybe McB and Brew will come good.

Maybe they won’t.

Completely and utterly irrelevant now that was 4 seasons ago 4! moving to mid 30’s means 4!years older 4 years slower and you can tell

Deane and Agana got more than that but they wouldn't now. Sharp and Didzy are mid 30s and well past their best.

IMHO the way forward is to give McBurnie and Brewster a run together. They are both young and proven at this level and in theory could be a decent big man little man pairing (plus McBurnie helps solve our problemwith set pieces). However if they are never given a chance we will never find out.

Facts :
Fat + unfit when signed.
Never played 90 mins.
Continually out through inexplicable injuries.
Stolen a wage apart from a short period in Autumn 2019.
Will never play to his potential.
Worth ZERO in the marketplace due to recent record + higher wages than any sane club would pay.
Just drawing a wage till contract runs out or gets convicted of an offence committed in his ridiculous car.
A total knob , an even bigger knob than McKnob.
