What was Widler's thinking behind Bash at RWB today anyone ITK? Baldock clearly wasn't rested else he wouldn't have brought him on after 25 mins. Basham as good a utility player as he is, has not looked comfortable as a wing back. Plus without Basham as a centre half we lose an outlet from defence and someone who can start attacks. This chopping and changing can't be doing anyone any good. Last season the defence in particular was the same week in week out, except for when injuries dictated, yet this season even when we have chance to play a settled back 5 there seems to be far too much chopping and changing. The up shot being Jake Wright who is statistically our best defender keeps getting left out and yet CCV whose individual mistakes or slips (at least one a match) have now caused us to concede quite a few goals gets picked. I really hope Spurs aren't forcing him too play every week as its hindering the side. O'Connell seems to have so much more confidence going forward knowing two quality centre halfs are covering him rather than CCV. Having just won 3-0 albeit against a poor Sunderland side I don't get why it wasn't a straight swap Fleck in for CCV? Donaldson played well last two games so if he isn't fit enough for 90 mins surely you're better starting him than chucking him on for 15 mins when we are struggling up top and chasing the game. Sharp is a great finisher no question about it but he doesn't do much else at which point he becomes a luxury player unless we are creating 12 chances a game for him. At least with Donaldson and Clarke you have two players up top who can make a goal from nothing which with Duffy marked out of the game (credit Bolton) would have been nice today. Strange decisions from Wilder today but what a fantastic 2017 its been back to winning ways at Derby (probably take a point mind) UTB
