This guy is a very very good GK. his stats are great! he's Argentinas No1, he's been at Man Utd 5 years so is settled here and if they do take Henderson back to fight for No1 with De Gea where dos this leave Romero?

how has his battle for No1 fared to date? Then they add another quality GK to the fight in the summer
He's a young lad who's been out on loan for 2 and a half seasons to gain experience. Because they know full well if it goes badly for a rookie keeper at a big club it could destroy him

I think mancunianblade is referring to Romero fighting for the no.1 spot.
I agree. If they want to bring Henderson back next year to compete with De Gea, why not enquire? Wages may be an issue but I think we’ll probably be increasing the average wage in the summer anyway.

He literally never plays. He's the world's best non playing footballer. 150 league games in 13 seasons. 20 since August 2013.

How do you know he's good????

He has 96 Caps for Argentina in 10 years, played in two world cups, would have been 3 if not for an injury and hes kept 31 clean sheets from his last 50 games conceding only 24. Some of the opposition
May not have been CL standard but those are decent stats

He hasn't played for Argentina since 2018. He's no longer a real footballer. He's a very highly paid mascot.

He would have been a perfectly reasonable addition on loan and would have freed up the Ramsdale money to sort out left centre back. Having an experienced guy with 123 appearances at all levels for his national team would not have been a bad way to go.

That said, Robin Olsen has 52 and he's made an inauspicious start to say the least.

he was released and didn’t find a club until October.. he was available on a free. Which would also have helped out re the number of loans we have. We currently have 4/5 loans available to us.. and we need 3 additions in January. So either 1 loan and 2 permanents or we try cancel a couple of loans

Agree. I was referring to a loan alternative to when we signed Ramsdale originally but you probably got that.

I wonder if many just assumed he'd go back to Argentina so dismissed him as an option when his contract finished. Can't have been a difficult sell. Similarly to Olsen, recently relegated Prem team looking to bounce back, chance of a first team slot and more in favour than Olsen was he'd been a long term resident in UK and could have avoided moving house if he didn't mind an hour to work.

As you say with the loans, think we missed a trick there.

Though if we don't manage to get someone else to make a loan offer to Hourihane i.e. we broker a deal for Hull as an example to loan him from Villa on the proviso we terminate, we could arrange to just take over his contract until the end of the season to free up a spot if Villa would be open to making it equal financially.

He had a couple of deals fall through, Valencia and then Granada I think and assuming the others looking at him he moved on by then although I don’t know that

if you look in a mirror and say "Romero could've done a job for us between the sticks" and click your heels together 3 times, Carlton Blade appears and berates you. FACT. Fact. fact.
If the sticks were the one's holding up the roof over the dugout and his personal, heated seats then Sergio is your man
