Selles Out

Let’s wait till the window shuts and he’s got a) reinforcements in key areas & b) 8-to-10 games under his belt before we judge.

If it looks like Slav 2.0, then we might be in trouble. Someone have a Hecky/Wilder type on speed dial! 🤷‍♂️😅

Only Bindon and Barry are new. The rest are the players Wilder took to 3rd place and a play off final. They should not be tamely surrendering to Bristol City and Swansea.
Maybe it will start to sink in now that wilder wasn’t the reason we never got promoted last season. He worked miracles and would’ve had us competing again this season. Crazy decision but we are where we are and stuck with this for now.

Since there appears to be a good deal of emphasis on AI-lead info when making football decisions, I thought I'd check with ChatGPT to see what it could pull together from available opinion:

Overall Verdict

The campaign’s close exposed Hull’s weaknesses—limited attacking options and inconsistency—but also underlined determination and unity under pressure. The manager’s performance can be viewed as functional but not inspiring: he achieved the ultimate goal of survival, but the lack of progression and reliance on scraping results will raise questions about whether he is the right figure to lead a push higher up the table next season.

I wasn't per se against Selles. I like the guy. But it was the fact that he was available after he was harshly let go but hull. He wouldn't have been the guy we'd want if Hill had kept him. I didn't want Gary O'Neil neither and I'm worried he'll be in if it doesn't work for Selles.

It's not vastly different to the formation of Wilder to know but we've lost some good players. If after new signings and maybe another 5/6 games were off it then he's going to be under real pressure. The performance today and people talking about lack of energy and effort worries me. V Bristol I could see some intensity.

Also if this was the other way round and I was in charge of a baseball team and I know nothing about baseball I'd not sack the manager who is mostly liked by the fans after just extending his contract three months prior and who's finished just outside the top two and then replace him with a coach if just 2/3 years experience and who has a promising but short span of management.

That just seems like you're asking to gamble the season ahead and with English football so much about money and our last season of parachute payments then it's a gamble that could see us be out of the top flight for many years. It's happened before!

Never thought i would see a more clueless manager at Bramall Lane than David Weir step forward Ruben Selles.

He has to go he is simply clueless, but that is not surprising seeing as we have clueless Yanks who don't have a scooby what they are doing.

He's been given a poor hand, need to get new players in and then judge how he does.
This clown could have the Leeds and Burnley team of last season he would still do nothing.

Makes me laugh he is supposed to be making us an attacking and exciting team to watch yet we didn't have a shot on target according to RS that is spineless.

Crap out

It’s a threadbare squad that he is managing badly.
He hasn’t managed to work out basic stuff like not playing O hare and Hamer in midfield together.
He’s more inflexible tactically than Wilder and he hasn’t impacted a game positively through substitution or tactical in game changes.
We start halves poorly.
The press comment where he said he would have to be ‘brilliant’ made me laugh. He’s hopeless at his job of management and will be sacked before Christmas.
He’s Wayne Rooney levels of bad and to think we replaced Wilder with this fella is astonishing

Serious question. What is "promising" about Selles? He took Southampton down, Reading to 17th in the 3rd tier and Hull to 21st in the second tier.

I appreciate there were mitigating circumstances at Reading, but he's not pulled up any trees at any of his clubs. At best his record shows him a mediocre lower division manager.

We aren't Reading, Hull or even a doomed Soton side. We aren't for regression and to go back to the Adkins days.

So sack this grifter now and back a proper manager such as Cooper, Dyche or even Rohl.

You did not spend over £100m to purchase this club to see your asset bottom out.
