Not gonna lie, he makes the team worse overall.

Gave the ball away twice in leadup to their goal.

No coincidence our best run of form came when he was out injured.

Apart from some odd moments of magic his passing and possession is absolutely woeful.

He's a renegade who plays to the beat of his own drum.

Time to get rid imho.

O'Hare is a much more vital cog within our team.

Last chance to sell for a decent fee

The chance to get money back has already gone
True already also got to think who is coming in for him on the back of an injury. He will need to show something too. As painful as it sounds, Leeds need to look at someone better now they have a bit of form and are out the the relegation zone, if their board back them it won’t be on unproven players, they will be looking at some big money signings. Could be a Dutch side but again not sure who

I couldn't give a f.ck if I never saw any single one of them play again.

Think you have to realise what kind of player you have regards Hamer.

Everyone raved about Hamer last season but I never thought he was that good in the normal sense.
He was the Championship player of the season and based on his YouTube highlights I agree.

But take Illeman N’Diaye he’d be man of the match because he’d be involved in everything and a constant threat to score and create.

However last season Hamer had loads of quiet games, loads of games where he was underwhelming
Then wham bam….he’d score a great goal out of nothing….or he’d do a brilliant pass to create a goal.
Hamer was like having a cheat code…players that produce magic are rare….he’s what you call a “luxury player”.

Fans love luxury players but these days luxury players are only for clubs with money.

The decision to sell or keep Hamer isn’t in our control.
Since last season the situation remains the same…if we receive a decent offer for Hamer and he wants to leave then he’s gone.
If a club tries to low ball us with a cheeky offer then it will be refused and he stays.

Should have scored first half also

Hamer did do a brilliant pass tonight….which Campbell then wasted.

Woefully unfit. Like playing with ten men apart from those sporadic moments. Big moments admittedly. Where do you play him? He went in the middle of the park for 15 minutes midweek and we lost the midfield and the lead. Play him wide and it's like having a passenger when the ball turns over. One up top with him having a free role no responsibilities whatsoever?

The frustration is that at Coventry he wasn't a luxury player.

If we really want to keep him, he only works in a 4231.

Needed hooking on the hour but stayed on based on being someone who can produce something out of nothing.

Probably a fitness thing for him. More games played, the better he will be. That said, we arent here as a football club for Gus Hamer. Drop him to the bench, hes going to have to work hard to win his place back as right now, hes not worthy of a starting 11 shirt. No one should get picked on reputation alone.

He is going to PSV in Jan. Possibly another Dutch club but PSV were only ones interested, they still are wanting him, and he now wants to go. He also has split with his Mrs who has gone back to Netherlands. Also tbh, its either him or Cal in midfield, not both-he was gonna go in summer, now he wants to go and we have to get a fee for him in Jan or he leaves for free. He’s done now at united. We have plenty of good/great midfielders. We will be okay.

The odd thing about hamer is hecky, wilder, Selles and now wilder again still can't work out how and where to play our best player. And he clearly is our best player by a mile even if he can go quiet.

Actually thought he showed good energy tonight and particularly v stoke.

Too much of a liability in a midfield 4, tosses possession away too cheaply & we don’t hold possession well anyway. Also doesn’t have Souza covering ground to bail him out this year.

Very talented player but if we’re looking safe in January it makes sense to sell him now.

On the pitch when he is fit and able to do so would be a start

We have not been looking unsafe all season

Agree…he gives possession away quite a lot because he’s often looking for the glory pass to unlock defences.
Compare this to Peck and Jairo who both rarely gives the ball away because they never try difficult passes and both never create much.

Again you have to realise what you have.

It was only a few weeks ago everyone was criticism Peck for never scoring and never creating chances….thats not Pecks game.
Where as Hamer can be having a poor game but is always the likely player to score or assist.

His goal, chance creation and goal assist rate is high….this makes him a sort after player.

1. Hamer is a deep lying playmaker. Wilder has this wrong. Sees more of the ball there. Allows Ohare to play between the lines also. Best in a 3:5:2 formation as two CMs more likely to get overrun.

2. The boy is incredibly talented. Has fitness issues for sure. Would he be at Utd if he didn’t ?

Putting “blame” on Gus is simply inaccurate.

That said, the club will be mostly inclined to cash in next month unless he extends his contract. Pretty sure of that.

UTB

On his day he's our best player, no question. But how many of those days have we seen this season?
Wilder obviously doesn't trust him as a CM and I can kind of see why. So if we play with 2 strikers he has to play wide which unbalances the team.
I would be inclined to sell if we can get someone who fits the formation better.

Completely agree & I think last year we covered well for his limitations by giving him that free role & having more cover in midfield.

This system we look much more effective with O’Hare who retains possession and tracks back.

I think this is what has held him back from being sought after by Prem teams - not many teams at the lower end of that level can afford a luxury player who gives the ball away so much & brings pressure back on the team, albeit he will score / create something. Top Championship / Europe seems the most likely place for him to go.

Unfortunately he's the only player we have the could do something out of nothing. Can see him going in Jan especially abroad.

Then I can't wait for us to replace him with Matos

He takes too many risks in possession to be a deep-lying playmaker.

I don't mind that we have a player who tries the defence splitting things that an ordinary player can't see let alone attempt, but unless we're dominant in games it can only really work with him if we play one up front and have him in a free role behind instead of a second striker.

I'm pretty sure that he's only still with us now because of his looseness with possession (so very well illustrated last night, but you have to take the good with the bad) plus the fact that he always looks at least six pounds overweight.

In terms of ability and golden moments one of the best we've had, but if there is a reasonable taker in January I'd be saying thank you.

I'm really not convinced we will be saying an early goodbye, though.
