I don't care what anyone says. £20M in January get us all the money wilder needs to take us up. Say everything you want but the reality is that £20M is a great deal for championship player

I don't disagree, but I'd be surprised if anyone bid anything like £20M :)

So people would rather keep a player than cash in and get multiple players? You're all off your nut

The money we received for che and dcl got us the players we needed for promotion last season

I love post-match on here. Descends into total and utter madness within 10 minutes. Stay away from the keyboard, folks.
Totally agree. Some people need to look at the table!. So we've had 2 dodgy results against teams that on paper we should be beating. This is not the end of the world!!. We're joint 2nd with 37 points after 19 games. Who in all seriousness thought we'd be there?. We're 7 points clear of boro who are 7th. On to the next game now. Onwards and upwards. In wilder we trust. Utb

That frankly is the worst post I've read in a long time. Brooks gives everyone a lift. The whole place is buzzing when Brooks is on the pitch and that element of unpredictability unsettles the opposition. I've seen shit players signed for £20 million. To be frank that's peanuts in today's transfer market. Factor in Brook's age and potential and I think he's worth £40 million. Thank God Wilder has a winner's mentality and not a losers one. Our best period this evening was from the 70th minute when Brooks came on. We don't need to panic spend £20 million on new players. We just need a couple of additions and hold onto Brooks. Seeing Brooks play alongside Fleck and Duffy and the others is why it's never been a better time to be a Blade. We need to be patient and trust Wilder and this team. And give the vocal backing we're capable of. That's all.

OK then. Answer me this.

Who could we sign, who we couldn't already, who wouldn't smash the wage structure and would make a bigger impact than Brooks?

'Leave that to Wilder' answers not accepted.

Like the club has given the incumbent manager any sort of windfall from sales.

We live in hope this Jan

£40m? So more than Salah cost Liverpool?

Don't be a Dotard.

I doubt anyone will pay anywhere near that but I actually agree.

I've been critical a number of times in years past for false economy but I'd trust Wilder to improve us immeasurably with a third of that.

Some of you guys are fookin bonkers.

I can't be arsed looking into massive detail but in the last few weeks alone he's set up the equaliser last night and scored the winner V Leeds.

Why would you sell someone who offered that kind of return? Who could you buy to replicate that type of income?

If a big club goes in and he wants to go then we should accept that. It's part of football. If he doesn't then we should keep him. This is such a fantastic time to support the Blades, maybe we won't go up this season, but after years of dull, turgid football let's enjoy the ride. We missed out on watching one of England's best players (Walker) progress, did we really benefit from the extra money? Who knows how good Brooks will become, he still has a lot to learn. He would be better off at Bramall Lane than a forgotten player in a 50 man squad of superstars.

I think Leonard and the Charlton lad (forgot his name) in the summer proved that theory to be a load of twaddle. We shouldn't sell Brooks, we should be building a team around players like that, the odd time United have done that we've been successful. If the last 50 years has proven anything it's that selling the family silver doesn't work. If we'd built a team around Maguire, Naughton, Walker, Lowton, Quinn, Sharp, etc we wouldn't have had the 6 years in the third tier like we've just had.

And then you find that £20M doesn't get you any player that's as good as Brooks and there's not a lot in that sweetie shop that you can afford that's going to improve the team. So you're £20M better off, but the team is weakened.

It's just as well you don't care what anyone else says.

I agree except that if someone like Liverpool comes in and he wants to go, then realistically we are going to have to sell. Hopefully he would consider how difficult it is getting into one of the big Premier League teams.

We sold Walker and Naughton for 10 million, where did that take us? To the first division for six largely painful years.

People are deluded if they think the revenue from a Brooks sale would handed straight over to CW, that is not the way this club works.

As has been pointed out, we need to hold on to Brooks (who wants to play for us), nurture him and build around him. Just as we should have done with talent like Walker and Naughton.

Playing the short game for the last 40 years has got us no where. Time for change.
