One for the clever computer people on here....

I was wondering, how hard would it be for United to make a programme that shows you the view from every seat in the ground, i know it would take alot of time but i was wondering it would be an easy thing to do apart from being time consuming. I know they wouldn't do it but its just a hypothetical query, because when i buy tickets for cup games and such and its not in my official ST seat, id like to know what the view is like. I know i could go and sit in the seat before/after a match but just presuming i couldnt how hard would this be to make?

Also would it be able to be viewed online or would the customer have to download it or would it be viewable on the computers in the ticket official like i said it's just a hypothetical question.

P.S. im not thinking about making it myself before anyone says anything :P

It would take someone taking an awful lot of pictures... but the actual implementation of it wouldn't be too difficult :)

It's just a case of having a picture of a map and each seat/block contains a link to the relevant picture.

It is possible as my parents went to see Bruce Springsteen at Old Trafford a while back and they have something similar which they used to check out their view of the concert Linky You click on the block you want and it shows a representative photo of the view from that block (not necessarily specific seats though)

A number of teams started trying to do this a few years back... Grimsby and Forest seem to be stuck in my head.

Theoretically, its not hard, just a crap job :) Plus you've got all the complication and moaning from "customers" that it would bring.

aye, never thought about the pics, suppose it could be like graphical, like they do on MOTD to see if the ball has crossed the line where they freeze the picture and change it to graphics so they can get a different angle of the shot.

cheers ScUzZ nice link :)

It would be a smaller (but still a big job) to give a single still frame image looking towards the pitch from a particular block. The Lane hasn't really got "blocks" though so it would be a bit awkward.

Perhaps the forum members would like to submit pictures from their seats to show us what the view is like and we can compile a seatview map of our own :D

We'll start tonight as we're off and about somewhere else for the Legends match.

great idea linz :D

im obviously not sat in my ST seat tonight because we're on capital one/malta/john street/whatever you want to call it stand, so ill take a piccy :)

I would have thought the easiest way would be to create a 3D model (open GL, geeks;)) with a complete grid-reference of seat positions.

Foxy (or any budding programmers out there) what do you reckon if I make the model?

It would be an interesting little project, thats for sure :)

OK, OK, we've got thanks and the nomination system. Howabout a 'raspberry' or equivalent for threads that just pander to the geeks and scream off the end of the nerdometer??

Well I'm not likely to get a proper nomination for any of my bollocks posts am I??!!? :D:D
