City vs Everton Postponed tonight... Arsenal confirming more cases...

How long before discussions of postponing the season crop up again? For us, it really might not be a bad thing. Gives the out of form players a break, and more importantly gives JOC a chance to recover.

Anything to break this sequence of defeats.Would give us chance to bring in a couple of players and injured players time to get fit.
Wont happen though !

Unless it's like 4 or 5 clubs all at the same time I just cannot see it happening.

If they do that, they’ll just have to cancel the Euros.

Unless they split the premier league at the half way stage, and then the top ten play each other once, same with the bottom half.

I might fancy our chances to stay up if that happened :)

That means 10 fewer games to play though doesn't it. 13 instead of 23. We could use 33 games to work on that gap but either way a break would be very welcome.

I mean split the league and start a new competition. Every team starts on zero points and then plays 10 games.

It would be brilliant for us, and maybe give us a chance to reset and come back out stronger.

Considering how the 1st Covid wave stuffed us, it would be quite apt if the 2nd wave gave us a chance to recover.

We'll win against Burnley, Palace and Newcastle and then they will suspend the season just as we hit form. And have to start again.

Yeah agree ... If it affects scum of Manchester and the Landan clubs it might happen ... shouldn't though because of their squad sizes .... could end it now as far as Blades concerned!

League one has the vast majority of its games off right now...

Boris and co are going to make a big decision tomorrow which could make the difference between life and death for many people.
I reckon we will all be in lockdown from early january which will probably include sport as it is ramping up too quickly for NHS to cope.
Fear not the season will finish and we will be in championship next season.

Like November. Places with regular testing won't notice it at all.

Last year it's important to remember we didn't know the extent of the damage the virus did, and were a million miles away from the testing we have in place now.

Now we know the average age of those dying from Covid in the UK is around 83.....
I'm not convinced the PL comes to a halt

That is because Care Homes have been death traps.

We do not know enough about the new variant....
I'm gonna have a stab in the dark here and suggest it will kill old people and be much, much less dangerous to professional footballers.

To clarify, I don't think there's a prayer the season gets postponed, much less cancelled

After today’s figures I am not so sure
Let’s see how many of the FA cup matches are played over the weekend

It strikes me from what I read in the press, the more "elite" of all types of sportspersons don't give a flying whatsit about the Covid rules we have to adhere to.

The only way the season is cancelled is if there are too many cases internal to football leading to too many matches cancelled.

I don’t think cases outside of football will have much bearing on the decision.
