Season of Dreams

Certain seasons take on a special place in Blades fans' collective memories and are easily recalled. Examples include The Triple Assault season, The Chedgate season, the Hull v Burnley promotion, Walsall relegation, Leicester, Boxing Day, Tevez.

I'd like to nominate this season as the "Season of Dreams". Promotion to the PL as heavy underdogs playing fantastic football as Wednesday falter and sack their manager, and Leeds collapse from poll position after we beat them at Elland Rd, etc. Whatever happens next year, this has been maybe the best season in my lifetime.

Possibly only bettered by promotoion to the PL under Bassett (which had the added bonus of Wednesday being relegated from the PL on the final day).

Season of Dreams sounds good though. We won't forget it in a hurry.

I'm not sure a single season under Wilder will be remembered separately. So far it seems like a single period, with a particular style of play, togetherness, and way of celebrating. There have been standout moments across the 3 seasons, but many of them will in future not be immediately recognised instinctively as part of a particular year. The standout moment of Brooks nutmegging Hunt came in the least spectacular season, for example.
And whilst we are in a close-season of dreams (which makes this a good time for this type of thread), it didn't feel like a 'season of dreams' at the time for many of us. I am sure I am not the only one who felt for most of the season that it was going to be play-offs (a good achievement in itself), and assumed that the play-offs would be the usual nightmare. But the final few weeks certainly deserve the label 'dream'.
