'Season changing games' aren't always season changing games

There seems to be an assumption that yesterday's game will be the turning point in the season.
In every promotion campaign something similar is said at some point in the season. Look back to our promotion season in 2005/06. At exactly the the same stage, we played Watford our promotion rivals at home (Feb 6th). They slaughtered us, we were grateful to only lose 4-1. 'No way are we going up' we all thought. This is the match where we had been found out.
And what happened? We went for on to gain automatic promotion, whilst Watford had to rely on the playoffs.
What seems like a 'season changing games' doesn't always look like that at the end of the season.
I am sure Wilder is now putting yesterday's game to bed and getting the players to focus on the Middlesbrough game. Us supporters (me included, I have been full of self pity since yesterday) should get over ourselves and move on!

Well said remember earlier in season when we dropped out of top six .that was it were finished .

Agree, big wins and big defeats are tests of character.

So a result classed as “season changing”, doesn’t necessarily mean in a negative way.
In fact last nights disastrous last 10 minutes might focus the players minds, so we play much better in the next few games.
In retrospect, lasts night capitulation could end up being positive.
Suppose we’ll see how players might be affected when we play at home to Boro and Reading.
At least we haven’t got long to wait to get the Villa game out of the system.
