It wouldn't be beyond the realms of possibility that another person in the same house/public place had hacked his account quite easily given that the forum doesn't support SSL on the login. That should really be something that gets sorted.

The question we are all asking ourselves at the end of this thread is which players were our scouts watching?? Maybe Max's friend Mike might be able to help solve the mystery he's usually reliable.....:tumbleweed:

That may very well be so, but i would tell you this. If i were browsing on the same network as you, and you logged in to this site, then i would be able to get that password, no problems at all.

Same with BladesMad.

Yes mate, I always accept, as a relative novice, what you say about the technology. Unfortunately there are always surrounding circumstances. The case of R v Maxster is no different. It wasn't his brother who wanted to shag Torrix1889's wife....

you're right in that SSL encrypts it in transit so if someone intercepted his network traffic with a sniffer device they might get his password in clear text, but he said it was on the same device (which foxy/linz could probably confrim from the web logs if they were so inclined) so it seems more likely to me he leaves it lying around and logged in. Also SSL certificates are quite expensive.

Not for a site like this they aren't.
 
been a while since I looked into it and I daresay there are other options these days like shared ones. But if you were hacking someones network you'd surely be more interested in getting their email or banking passwords than one for a footy forum. So unless someone is daft enough to have the same passwords on both ....

If you don't need domain name verification, and just need the encryption, then you can get them for free.

Someone i know has the same password for EVERYTHING.

The point we're all missing here is that we had scouts at a game in which Derby / Blackpool weren't involved AND wasn't being played in Scotland !!! :eek:

I'll try not to tell you what you already know, but do think carefully before either writing or enabling someone else to do the same if they choose to masquerade as you. It'd be worrying if it wasn't for the good humour of someone like Pinchy. You've seen how a grownup reacts when confronted with this type of teen angst, so take a moment to consider ensuring this doesn't happen again, otherwise you might find you're an afterthought.
