How come Watford as got so many different nationalities playing for them, loads of Africans, and we more or less stick to the British isles and maybe 1 or 2 European countries? Surely we need to look further afar?

We did but Wilder did not want them, can only assume that we stopped looking in the European markets and lost any scouting network that we had previously set up, especially now that Rip Van Winkle has left the club.

Got quite a few nationalities: Ndiaye (Senegal), Jebbison (Canada), Berge (Norway), Kedra/Amissah (Germany), Norwood (Northern Ireland), Fleck/Mcburnie (Scotland), Stevens/Egan (Rep of Ireland), Anel (Bosnia), Gordon//Nozza (Wales), Baldock (Greece), Osula (Denmark), Coulibaly (Mali).

Recent years add Olsen, Restos, Besic, Moose, Zivkovic probably more.

Anyone else hoping for a bit of ginger gang goolie when they saw this? No, me neither.

I've done some research into this subject and it turns out what's happened is we haven't bought the European expansion pack for football manager so Hecky only has the UK version to use for scouting.

Prince has said Hecky is getting the expansion pack for Christmas so we can expect some foreign signings in January.

Norwood and McMoonboot are English.

Van Winkel brought in Berge and probably Anel.
Going to give Bergen Blade a contract to find some players.

Hopefull he can turn work permits off and they we can sign whoever the fuck we want

I think we need more double-barrelled names. Most top sides have quite a few. We've just got Norrington-Davies.

There must be some sort of scouting going on with the pick up of Anel Ahmedhodzic, honestly I didn't know who he was until we signed him.

I'll be honest I've never heard of a few, not even playing football manager! But given what people are saying, there's some quality coming in

We had a long period where Wilder going back to Clough only signed British players. I think Wilder only really trusted tried and tested players that have played English football for quite a while.

If you believe why you read the owners have been keen to bring in foreign talent for a while. Something I think you’ll see more of going forward.

Berge & Anel were their recommendations based on European scouting set up.

Anel was recommended by jack Lester who had him at forest

Watford’s Owner:

Over the past decade, Pozzo and his family have become notable for their multi-club ownership strategies, including transferring players between Watford F.C., Udinese Calcio, and Granada CF (with Granada CF sold to Chinese businessman Jiang Lizhang in June 2016).[4][5]

Pozzo runs an international scouting team of 25 to 30 people who seek players through attending every significant competition around the world, especially in developing markets like South America, Africa, and Eastern Europe.[6][7] Pozzo is reported to have a pattern of investing small sums of money into high-risk players. His larger clubs' network has helped his business to minimize player acquisition costs while maximizing the profit from surging transfer fees as players are transferred and loaned among 'sister clubs' and later sold at a premium achieving high returns.[8][7]

Pozzo's career experience and business model has led to identifying talent at his three clubs and has been consistently applied to Udinese Calcio for over 25 years, leading some to call it the "talent factory".[9] Granada CF and Watford achieved promotion to LaLiga and Premier League, respectively, through Pozzo's network and transformation from distressed situations. Pozzo's success includes the development of the clubs' own stadiums.[6][7][10]

That’s why.

And, to repeat, Anel was a youth player at Forest under Jack Lester.
