I wonder if this is where we may at least get some value.

There is a limit to how much wages Rangers and Celtic are willing to pay and let's be fair, there is also a limit to the fees they can demand.

A few players that I wondered if they may fit in:

Ryan Kent, on loan from Liverpool to Rangers. Surely time for him to move permanently?

James Forest, stepped up his goals scoring recently.

Callum McGregor, still only 25 and scores a few. Had a decent spell with Notts County a while back.

Alfredo Morelos, could Wilder be the one to curb his temper. Decent scoring stats and a handful when not getting sent off. They'd have to listen at 8-10m.

Scott McKenna, young, dominant defender from Aberdeen. Turned down 3.5m from Villa. Might be a decent competition for Egan.

Any thoughts?

The only ones I'd have out of those are Forrest and McGregor and I doubt either would leave Celtic for a newly promoted club.

They must be getting bored in the SPL in terms of development.

I don't see anyone else knocking down the door to give them a chance. About the top interest historically has come from Southampton - VVD, Forster, Armstrong.

I don't see why United cannot occupy the same bracket. They only just survived the drop and are similar in size to ourselves.

They've been in the top flight for 7 years, so I don't think many people would consider them and us a similar size, unfortunately.

There's a reason players look good up in Scotland, the standard is utter shite.....they then come into the English leagues and look bang average...(Hooper, Mulgrew to name a couple)...we have been stung ourselves....Scougall and McNulty made very little impact at League 1 level, let alone the Premier League.

Let's not go north of Newcastle eh..

Signing Scottish based players is a risk.

We need to buy players from the Championship that we know can compete in our first team. So worst case scenario we come down with an excellent squad.

We stay up one season then we can begin to take some calculated risks. But for now it woood be suicide.

That Van Dijk fella hasn’t done too bad recently. :)

Greg Taylor from Kilmarnock for Lwb would be a good move. Can play Lcm as well. Good cover/competition for enda and fleck, only 21 as well, although I think they have qualified for the europa league, but with the amount of qualifiers they have to play they probably won't actually play in it. I'd also like Ryan Christie from Celtic to play 10, he can also play Lcm as well.

Is Scott Sinclair still at Celtic? That would give us a unique kind of double?

to be fair, looking at the past few scottish young players of the year and you have some very good pl players there, kent could be a great option although doubt liverpook will sell, ive already said on here but i do think turnbull at motherwell is well worth a punt at the right price

David Turnbull from Motherwell.

Only 19 years old. Goalscoring midfielder. Had a great season. Seems to be the best prospect currently playing in the SPL.

That's a good shout. He's also left footed. So would be a good one to cover both Egan and O'Connell.

Ryan Kent permanently appeals as well. I think he'll stay with Steeeeevie G though.
