John McGinn? Really? Strachan still seems to think the SPL is equivalent to the championship. It isn't Gordon, it wasn't when you signed players for Boro from the SPL who couldn't cut it and it's not got any better. Gordon is a moron.

This x1000. I can't believe international managers (in all sports) don't pick the form players. I know we're bias, but surely Scotlands midfield would be significantly stronger with Fleck & Coutts.

Massive stretch, but if they were Welsh I reckon Chris Coleman would have them both in there. He picks on form and players that are performing right here right now at club level.

MAdness.

No better Scottish midfielders at this time and not in the squad.

Mind you I’ve been saying this for close to 12 months. But it’s unlikely they will get a chance in the current qualifiers as it’s almost finished and he would want to keep a settled side....even a losing one!

But if they don’t get call ups for the friendliest next year they clearly never will under Strachan.

Brooks and Woodburn flanking Bale, Ramsey and Joe Allen?!?!?

They'd be a Number 9 away from having one of the most exciting front 6 in international football!!

Wales are so limited on choice I wouldn’t be ensured surprised to see him getting a call up. If only to secure him to Wales for the future. Coleman isn’t afraid of using the kids as he’s show shown. And Brooks is unlikely to get a chance with England this season as he’s not at Chelsea/Man city etc etc....

So go to Wales young man...get game time, play international football and take the plaudits and rewards as they come to you and you earn them. Big future that lad.

Choosing Wales would be a smart move for the lad. He's a left footed winger/attacking midfielder who likes to cut in from the right. He might not dislodge Bale from that position, but he'll learn a hell of a lot from working with the (former) most expensive player in the world.

Central midfield is the key to any good side. That Strachan overlooks a tried and tested CM partnership that have performed and communicated almost telepathically for the last 18 months is baffling, the very essence of looking a gift horse in the mouth. His loss and our gain.

Nah,leave it...don't want them going away with Scotland on international break and coming back crocked.

... must be frickin' awesome if neither Fleck nor Coutts can get in their squad.

One assumes they're creating bucketfuls of chances, top of their group or have World Cup qualification in hand?

Was in Aberdeen the other week, mentioned Fleck and Coutts to a couple of lads and unsurprisingly they were aware of the pair of them.

They said for Fleck, forget it, former Rangers and Strachan won't look at him.

Apparently a lot of what Strachan does or doesn't do baffles them

Latest Squad announced

http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/41386962

Midfielders: Stuart Armstrong (Celtic), Barry Bannan (Sheffield Wednesday), Scott Brown (Celtic), Darren Fletcher (Stoke City), Ryan Fraser (Bournemouth), James Forrest (Celtic), James McArthur (Crystal Palace), John McGinn (Hibernian), Matt Phillips (West Bromwich Albion), Matt Ritchie (Newcastle United), Robert Snodgrass (Aston Villa)*

I can't for the life of me understand why Barry Bannan is a Scotland regular, whilst Coutts and Fleck are often overlooked.

Yesterday told me everything that i need to know about Bannan, totally anonymous for 90 minutes with the exception of a disgraceful lunge on Enda Stevens for which he rightly booked. I would love to know what people see in him, because every time i have seen him, he has been shite, although yesterday was the first time I've seen him live.
