With scoring in consecutive matches being the flavour of the month I couldn't help but notice that we've scored in every home league match (22) stretching right back to December last year.

The last time we failed to score was in a 1-0 defeat to MK Dons on 2nd December.

Anybody know what the record is?

Of those 22 matches we've only lost once when we scored first. The 2-1 defeat to Peterborough in March when they scored two in the last couple of minutes.

This is also the furthest we've gone into a season without failing to score since we've been in League One.

2011-12: 3
2012-13: 3
2013-14: 2
2014-15: 6
2015-16: 9 and counting

Interesting, it's 29 games if you also include cup and play off games at the Lane.

Don't know what the record is.

Doesn't look good for the Shrews if we ping one in first.

First goal has been decisive for us this season. We've won every match we've scored in first and haven't gone on to win if the opponent scores first. We have come from 2-0 down to draw twice at least.

I agree and Adkins has also said scoring first is vital.

However, the opposition have scored first in over 60% of our League games this season.

That is a shocking statistic.

Three points vital tonight.

This thing about the opposition scoring first in games was a feature of last season too.

Don't really know what the (continuing) reason is for it - passivity? demotivation? not being very good? bad luck?

Indeed. With Clough it was the negative "start with a point ........." bollocks that we had to put up with.

Adkins is positive and we have scored more goals but we are still lethargic until the oppo score.

I just don't know. Not being very good is probably the main factor.

25.

What a team.

So if I read this right, we have scored in every league home match we had in 2015? How about if you add in the cups. Scored versus Spurs and Preston. Scored versus Oldham and Worcester. League cup was away twice. Wasn't JPT away twice as well? If correct, we would have indeed scored in every home match in 2015.

Assuming UnitedBlade's post is correct, that's now 33 home games in succession in league and cup, in which we've scored.

That's an impressive run.

Don't forget Southampton!
