Scoogs v McGinn for Wembley?

We have a lot of players that I think the Wembley pitch will really suit their game. Murphy Scougall, Flynn, Brayford and maybe Baxter (if he doesn't go missing) with the flair and pace these players have I think we can cause Hull problems. Don't get me wrong though its a tough task and Hull are clear favourites, it will be nice to go to Wembley as underdogs with low expectations, for me this is when we are at our best.

Baxter won't go missing, it's all part of the game plan, he delivers what Cloughie wants off him.

I just hope the Mr Flynn does a job on the fullback, that's the key to me.

3 yards further to run there and 3 yards further to run back - it all adds up

Total square footage

Wembley - 8,625 sq yards - area per man to cover - 784 sq yards
BDTBL - 8,064 sq yards - area per man to cover - 733 sq yards

50 sq yards extra per man to cover.

That's why it seems much bigger - try adding that amount of sq yardage to your 90 minutes
Can you back that up with actual data though? Ie actual yards covered at wembley as opposed to premier league pitches for example?

Just because the pitch is wider doesn't mean that teams use the width

I'm not being intentionally argumentative on this, it's a genuine question

And... Is wembley the biggest pitch that we'll play on this season?[/QUOTE]

Errrr no! Sorry ;)

Darren or Silent probably could though!

Maximum dimensions of a football pitch are 130 yards by 100 yards though - now that would be a big pitch!!!!

Has to be Scougall for me. Our whole game plan and only chance of winning will be to break forward in numbers as we do at home (...) McGinn simply won't offer that.

Scougs gets my vote for starters as his direct running at the heart if their defence will be a potent weapon.

Agree with both of you and here's an example of McGinn not having the energy or not identifying a good chance to make an off the ball run in behind the opposition defence:

McGinn not running through.jpg

It's Maguire on the ball, having powered past four players he decides to shoot as there are no real runs in front of him. McGinn sort of jogs forward, while a sprint behind his marker could have seen him run through.

In a big match I think Scougall (like Coady, who scored a minute after the above situation, getting into the box) can be a goal threat with wholehearted runs into the box. McGinn has good qualities too, but not quite as high energy levels.

Yeah agree Scougs would have made the run Bergs..I love those runs Harry's going on..he does one or two a game now. What other Centre Back does that ,it's become a trademark of his,and how long before he goes all the way and bangs one in.

Hopefully against Hull.

It also shows Baxter pulling the centre halves out to create even more space.

Scoogs for me. I think people underestimate the defensive work he does, he's like an annoying wasp when the opposition have the ball. Also, when he gets forward and the attack breaks down, watch how quickly he gets back into position and starts his defensive duties. He can run all day and all night too so I have no worries about him running out of steam. I thought as a whole, the team looked leggy against Carlisle and Preston but Scoogs was an exception. I know he came off with 20 minutes to go against Carlisle but I think this was more tactical from NC rather than Scoogs being knackered.
