Not sure if anyone has noticed this before but I've just been checking and it seems that we have a almost insurmountable handicap on entering the play-offs.
Since the start of the play-off era in 1987 clubs who play their home games in red and white stripes have entered the competitions in all divisions 25 times. Only one has emerged with promotion and that was Stoke, when they played another red and white striped team Brentford in the 2002 League 1 final.
Of those 25 attempts only 10 have ended in the final so our record is actually one of the better ones
