Saudi Prince buys stake in French club Nice

British businessman Edward Blackmore has teamed up with a Saudi prince to buy a 49% stake in French Ligue 1 side Nice that could rise to 80%.

Blackmore did not reveal the identity of his business partner, but said he is from the Saudi royal family.

"We are investing together, but not only with him," said Blackmore, who is to become a vice-president.

Ex-Newcastle forward Hatem Ben Arfa has 11 goals for Nice, who are third, 24 points behind Paris St-Germain.

Surely this Prince is related to our Prince? Wonder if Nice fancy sending over a few of their young ens

My first thought after reading the report last night is that it is our Prince! Might be putting 2 & 2 together and coming up with 5 but the rumours over McCabe refusing additional investment, Jim backing off from social media and seemingly the running of the club and the fact that Ed Blackmore 'businessman' is in fact a UK football agent makes it quite possible. If true what a missed opportunity for us as I imagine the level of investment in a top 3 ligue 1 club will far outweigh the initial deal with the Blades. Time will tell.

Thought the figure is more like the 2,000 mark

If our Prince doesn't sort his differences out with KM, he'll probably be next on the list to go looking for another club

Oh hell this needs warrants further investigation - if S24SU have a whip round to fund the trip, I am prepared to go to Nice and have a look. I speak 'o'-level French and like bouillabaisse.

My only slight concern is the issue around the identity of the Prince involved. Described as a 'mystery'. Not sure why it would be kept secret unless he was involved with another club.
